APSU Lady Govs Basketball lose to hot handed Western Kentucky Hilltoppers

Austin Peay State University Lady Govs - APSUClarksville, TN – In a game where both offenses were largely unimpeded, Austin Peay State University women’s basketball team dropped an 88-69 decision to Western Kentucky, Saturday evening at E.A. Diddle Arena.

Both offenses had little trouble finding their range from the game’s opening tip.

APSU Governors Basketball get tough road win over Troy Trojans

Austin Peay State University Governors - APSUTroy, AL – The statistics show Chris Horton, with his 21 points and 13 rebounds, and Josh Robinson, with 17 points, led Austin Peay State University men’s basketball team to an 80-71 victory, Saturday afternoon, in Trojan Arena.

However, the play of two others—senior forward Khalil Davis and junior point guard Terrell Thompson—was perhaps as instrumental in the Governors’ second road win of the 2015-16 season.

Fort Campbell Soldiers complete Expert Infantryman Badge qualifications

Fort Campbell, KY – On February 2nd, more than 900 Soldiers from 1st Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Brigade Combat Team and units across Fort Campbell stepped onto Johnson Field at 4:00am to take a physical fitness test, after spending weeks training and preparing for this day, to begin day one of their expert infantryman badge qualifications.

That day more than half of the Soldiers failed to meet the EIB standards to pass the physical fitness test or the day and night land navigation portion. In the following four days, Soldiers were tested on basic infantryman tasks ranging from the proper way to throw a grenade to putting together an M4 rifle.

Clarksville Police respond to Pedestrian stuck on Highway 41A South Bypass

 

Clarksville Police Department - CPDClarksville TN –  Clarksville Police were dispatched to a pedestrian-involved collision at 8:31am Saturday morning, December 5th, 2015 on the Highway 41A South Bypass (Ashland City Road) near Queen’s Bluff Way.

Witnesses said a pedestrian running through traffic caused a collision between two vehicles when a driver had to swerve to miss him. A short time later, the pedestrian was struck by a vehicle down the street from the first incident.

Clarksville-Montgomery County Public Library Ribbon Cutting for Teen Seating Area set for Sunday, December 6th

 

Clarksville-Montgomery County Public LibraryClarksville, TN – Ava Ploeckelman, 13-year-old library user and Girl Scout recently did a good deed for the public library. “There was a need for a comfortable and attractive seating area in the teen section of the library,” she said.

She chose as her Girl Scout Silver Award project to take on providing this seating. Ava proceeded to fundraise through a variety of methods, including producing and selling some of the best cupcakes Clarksville has seen. Ploeckelman also enlisted the help of the Friends of the Clarksville-Montgomery County Public Library and Tennessee State Representative Joe Pitts for donations.

101st Airborne Division’s 326th Brigade Engineer Battalion hold Change of Command Ceremony at Fort Campbell

Fort Campbell, KY – It is not often that an officer will stand in a unit’s formation as a junior Soldier and return years later to take command of that same formation. For Lt. Col. Phillip Borders, that is exactly what happened.

Borders joined the 326th Brigade Engineer Battalion, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division formation for the second time when he took command two years ago, his first time more than 15 years ago.

Lt. Col. Phillip Borders and Command Sgt. Maj. Ramon Fisher, the outgoing command team for 326th Brigade Engineer Battalion, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division, relinquished their command and responsibility at a ceremony Feb. 5, 2014.
