The Govs will be one of four local Division I teams in the meet, competing against Middle Tennessee, Tennessee Tech and the host Tigers.

It was Chancis Jones who stole the day in the season-opener at Vanderbilt, December 10th, placing third in the long jump with a personal-best 5.86m (19-2.75) leap. She and junior Kaylnn Pitts are scheduled to compete in Sunday’s triple jump and long jump, where they will be challenged by Tennessee State’s Clairwin Dameus, the reigning conference champion in the latter event.

In the 55m hurdles, senior Myiah Johnson hopes to build on her fourth-place showing in the 60m event at Vanderbilt; her 8.72 in that meet ranks her 30th nationally entering the meet, one of three Governors, alongside Jones (17th in the long jump) and junior Terri Morris (17th with a 56.67 in the 400m dash) to rank among the nation’s top 30.

After impressive debuts at Vanderbilt that find them tied atop the conference standings in the pole vault, newcomers Dascha Hix and Savannah Amato look to build on their respective 3.45m (11-3.75) marks—the best by any APSU athlete since the 2009-10 campaign.

After being one of the traditional stops on the Governors indoor schedule for several years, Austin Peay is returning to the Ed Temple Invitational for the first time since 2013.

In that meet, then-freshmen Breigh Jones and Kymmalett Ross aided Austin Peay in its third-place, 3:59.58 4x400m run, with Jones picking up a fourth-place finish in the 400m dash—she has finished lower than fourth in the indoor 400m just four times in her APSU indoor career. Jones again will compete in the 800m in this event—she has yet to compete in the 400m in 2015-16.
