APSU Tennis falls to Chattanooga Mocs in season opener

Austin Peay State University Governors - APSUClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University men’s tennis team dropped a narrow 4-3 decision against Chattanooga in its season opener, Saturday.

The Governors began the day finding success in doubles play, leading to a much-needed point. Juniors Aaron Jumonville and James Mitchell knocked off Pablo Llebeili and John Peacy, 6-2, to set the tone at the No. 1 position.

Austin Peay State University Lady Govs - APSUHuntington, WV – It’s safe to say that senior Kymmalett Ross really likes the Jeff Small Track at the Chris Cline Indoor Athletic Facility.

Saturday, Ross equaled Erika Adams‘ school record 60m dash with a 7.61 mark, earning runner-up honors in the event.

Restructuring began on November 1st, 2015, and will be complete on February 1st, 2016.

UT Vols Basketball 2nd Half woes continue in 75-63 loss to TCU Horned Frogs

Tennessee Volunteers - UT VolsFort Worth, TX – It was a tale of two halves in Tennessee’s 75-63 loss to TCU on Saturday afternoon at Schollmaier Arena in Fort Worth.

The Vols led by 14 points at halftime but were outscored by 26 in the second half as the Horned Frogs held them to a season-low 22 points over the final 20 minutes.

Kevin Punter Jr. scored a game-high 24 points to lead the Vols in scoring for the 16th time this season and freshman forward Kyle Alexander provided a nice boost off the bench, posting career highs with 11 rebounds and six blocks.

The Big Orange turned in a dominant first-half performance and put on a 3-point shooting clinic, making 8 of 16 attempts from long range. Punter led all scorers with 15 points at the break as UT went to the locker room with a 41-27 lead.

Clarksville Transit System (CTS) opens Fitness Center

 

Clarksville Transit System - CTSClarksville, TN – Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan joined Director of Transportation Arthur Bing and members of the Clarksville Transit System (CTS) recently for a ribbon cutting officially opening CTS’s new fitness center.

“Our bus drivers rarely get a break during the day,” explained Mr. Bing. “They don’t get a lunch break and often grab something quick to eat between routes. As a result, they don’t always get to move enough or eat as healthy as they’d like. This fitness center is one way we can help by giving them a place to exercise after their routes. This will help many of our employees.”

Clarksville Police Department releases Alcoholic Beverage Commission Operation results from January 28th, 2016

 

Clarksville Police Department - CPDClarksville, TN – On Thursday, January 28th, 2016, Alcohol Beverage Control (ABC) Agents of the Clarksville Police Department’s Special Operations Unit conducted compliance checks on businesses targeting the sales of alcohol to underage persons.

For the first time in over a year, of the 18 businesses checked, there was 100% compliance.

Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office promotes William Everett and Jeffrey Holland

 

Montgomery County Sheriff's Office - MCSOClarksville, TN – The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office is proud to announce the promotion of William Everett to Field Training Officer and Jeffrey Holland to Corporal.

Holland is an eight year veteran of the Sheriff’s Office. He started his career in July of 2007 in the detention center. In 2013 he was promoted to Field Training Officer.

Originally from Dover, Holland worked in the armored car service industry as a driver and a guard before joining the Sheriff’s Office.
