APSU Basketball comes from behind to beat Murray State 76-73

Austin Peay State University Governors - APSUMurray, KYJosh Robinson knocked down the go-ahead free throw with 5.7 seconds left and Tre’ Ivory made a steal with 1.6 seconds left as Austin Peay State University rallied down the stretch to defeat Murray State, 76-73, Saturday night in CFSB Center.

The Govs’ victory snapped a nine-game losing streak in the series and it was the first at Murray since January 8th, 2011.

UT Vols sluggish first half costly in 85-67 loss at Arkansas

Tennessee Volunteers - UT VolsFayetteville, AR  Kevin Punter Jr. caught fire in the second half and finished with 24 points, but Tennessee could not overcome an its first-half struggles in an 85-67 loss to Arkansas on Saturday at Bud Walton Arena.

Tennessee (11-12, 4-6 SEC) had a slow start offensively in the first five minutes of the game and the Razorbacks (12-11, 5-5 SEC) seized control early and never relinquished it.

After being limited to just four points and 0-of-7 shooting in the first half, Punter scored 20 points in the second half, including a 4-of-6 effort from long distance. He also dished out a career-high seven assists in the loss.

For the second consecutive match, the Govs (1-2) allowed the opposition to gain the first point, with the Mocs (1-4) earning the nod in doubles.

“We want you to have a good time, but more importantly, we want you to be safe,” said TDOT Commissioner John Schroer. “The chances of you, or someone you love, being in a drunk driving crash increases over the weekend and even more over a holiday weekend. Everyone thinks it won’t happen to them and it always happens to somebody. Don’t be that somebody.”

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsClarksville, TN – Senior sprinter Kymmalett Ross, of the Austin Peay State University track and field team, has been named the Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week.

Ross was immaculate at last weekend’s Thundering Herd Invitational, hosted by Marshall. The senior equaled Erika Adams’ school-record 60m dash with a 7.61 mark, taking runner-up honors in the process, and broke the 200m record less than two hours later with a 24.51 mark that also netted her runner-up honors.
