City of Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan, Montgomery County Chief of Staff Jeff Truitt, Chamber of Commerce Director Melinda Shepard and City Chief of Administration Charlie Gentry attended their green ribbon cutting to congratulate the company on earning their certification.
“As you can see everything comes in cardboard,” said Norfleet. Mayor McMillan asked who led the initiative and Norfleet gave his operations manager, Phil Bishop, the credit for bringing everyone on board. Norfleet continued, “Pete Reed was the first one to talk to me about recycling, and then Michelle Newell and Phil, so I thought I’d better get started and when we did, we started saving money on our trash bills right away.”
Bishop added, “Like Wesley said, we began the cardboard recycling and then the paper, cans and plastic bottles. We’ve taken steps to save electricity including keeping the bay lights off in the warehouse during the day because of all the natural light. We’ve also reduced our fleet mileage through more efficient route deliveries.”
