Clarksville-Montgomery County can expect a mixed bag of Weather for the next 48 hours

National Weather ServiceNashville, TN – The National Weather Service (NWS) reports that an intense weather system is developing southwest of the mid-state this morning and rain chances ramp up for Clarksville-Montgomery County late this afternoon. An isolated severe weather threat will become possible tonight.

While the majority of severe weather with this system is expected to remain south of Middle Tennessee, storms coming out of Alabama and Mississippi between 10:00pm and 4:00am could present a damaging straight line wind threat for those south of Interstate 40.

Flash flooding and winter weather are all possibilities during the next 24-48 hours.

Rainfall on the order of 1 to 2 inches with isolated higher amounts are likely with this system. While widespread flash flooding is not expected, one or two flash flood warnings are not out of the question tonight if an area picks up a quick 2 or 3 inches.

Cold air on the backside of this system will also present Middle Tennessee with a chance for a mix of rain and snow. While no accumulations are expected for a majority of the mid-state, the Cumberland Plateau could see up to a half inch of snow between midnight Wednesday and noon on Thursday.

Please remain weather aware over the next 24 to 48 hours as severe weather. Flash flooding and winter weather are all possibilities during this time frame.

Counties Affected

Clay County, Macon County, Montgomery County, Pickett County, Robertson County, Stewart County, and Sumner County.
