APSU Governors Basketball keeps OVC Tourney hopes alive with 80-75 win over SIU Edwardsville

Austin Peay State University Governors - APSUEdwardsville, IL – Leave it to the freshmen to keep alive the Austin Peay State University seniors’ hopes for a possible Ohio Valley Conference tournament berth.

Freshmen scored the final seven points—all at the free-throw line—as Austin Peay defeated SIU Edwardsville, 80-75, Thursday night, in OVC basketball action.

UT Lady Vols Basketball late rally falls short at Alabama Crimson Tide

UT Lady VolsTuscaloosa, AL Bashaara Graves led Tennessee with 15 points, but the Lady Vols could not battle back from an 11-point halftime deficit, falling to Alabama, 54-46, on Thursday at Foster Auditorium.

The loss ended Tennessee’s (16-12, 7-8 SEC) 42-game winning streak against Alabama (15-13, 4-11) and marked the Lady Vols’ first-ever loss in Tuscaloosa. UT’s last loss to Alabama entering Thursday was on March 3rd, 1984.

Graves finished with 15 points and eight rebounds. Mercedes Russell recorded a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds. Jaime Nared added 13 points and seven boards.

APSU Baseball finishes homestand by hosting Riverview Inn Governors Challenge

Austin Peay State University Governors - APSUClarksville, TN – After posting a 3-1 record in its opening week, Austin Peay State University’s baseball team prepares to conclude its season-opening seven-game homestand with the Riverview Inn Governors Challenge, Friday-Sunday.

The Govs will play a 3:30pm contest each day of the round-robin event which will see Alcorn State, Connecticut and nationally-ranked Missouri State visit Raymond C. Hand Park.

Fort Campbell’s Blanchfield Army Community Hospital broadens access to medical care with Telehealth pilot

Blanchfield Army Hospital - BACH - Fort Campbell KYFort Campbell, KY – Dwight D. Eisenhower Army Medical Center and Blanchfield Army Community Hospital launched the Army’s first pilot Telehealth primary care services within BACH’s Emergency Center February 2nd, 2016.

The Telehealth pilot between these two health facilities incorporates a process to redirect non-emergency patients from the BACH emergency center to a primary care provider at DEAMC using the Telehealth platform, which is a hub for secure integrated telemedicine encounters. The mobile medical system uses video conferencing and software to capture, store and forward live medical images securely between health care providers in separate locations.

In a demonstration of the Telehealth process at Fort Campbell’s Blanchfield Army Community Hospital, clinical staff nurse 1st Lt. Maxx P. Mamula examines mock patient Master Sgt. Jason H. Construction crews will be performing water main line maintenance near the intersection of Malkowski Road and Highway 41-A South.

Light Snow possible for Clarksville-Montgomery County tonight

 

National Weather ServiceNashville, TN – The National Weather Service (NWS) reports light snow accumulations are possible over Clarksville-Montgomery County and parts of the mid state tonight and freezing temperatures will also arrive.

The atmosphere will remain chocked full of moisture tonight as an upper level disturbance swings southeastward, out of Kentucky, across the mid state. Temperatures tonight will start above the freezing mark.

However, following the passage of the weather disturbance late this evening and overnight, temperatures will fall below the freezing mark.

A light snowfall is possible for Clarksville-Montgomery County tonight.

Austin Peay State University Lady Govs - APSUCarbondale, IL – Austin Peay State University men’s tennis team travels to Southern Illinois, Friday, to continue nonconference action. In addition, Saturday’s home match against Wright State has been cancelled.

The cancellation is Austin Peay’s third of the year due to winter weather conditions.

Montgomery County Relay For Life currently taking Luminaria Orders for Event Ceremony

 

American Cancer Society's Relay for LifeClarksville, TN – As this year’s Relay For Life campaign effort approaches its close and final plans for the culminating event are almost complete, the public is invited to participate. As we continue our efforts to “Finish the Fight” in the cure for all forms of cancer, we recognize that there are many in the community who will lose the battle and succumb to the fight with cancer.

In the midst of the celebration and festivities that will take place during the Relay For Life event on May 20th, it is also a time dedicated to reflection and healing, to commemorate those who courageously fought but lost the battle in their fight with cancer.
