APSU Basketball beats Tennessee Tech 92-72; Chris Horton dominates with 37 points, 21 rebounds

Austin Peay State University Governors - APSUNashville, TN – Playing in his first Ohio Valley Conference tournament, senior center Chris Horton played like a man who wanted his college career to continue. Horton scored 37 points and grabbed 21 rebounds as No. 8 seed Austin Peay State University stunned No. 5 seed Tennessee Tech, 92-72, Wednesday night in first-round tourney action in Municipal Auditorium.

The Governors now will face No. 4 seed Tennessee State, 6:00pm, Thursday, in the tourney quarterfinal action, also in Municipal Auditorium.

APSU Governors Baseball loses in final innings to Kentucky Wildcats, 3-2

Austin Peay State University Governors - APSULexington, KY – Austin Peay State University’s baseball team allowed a lead to slip away late, dropping a 3-2 nonconference decision to Kentucky, Wednesday afternoon, at Cliff Hagan Stadium.

Austin Peay (4-4) got a stellar start from freshman Josh Rye, who retired the first eight batters he faced before allowing a third-inning single. Rye would keep the Wildcats scoreless until the fourth when he surrendered a two-out solo home run to designated hitter Gunnar McNeill.

UT Lady Vols Basketball begin SEC Tournament against Arkansas Razorbacks

UT Lady VolsKnoxville, TN – The No. 7 Lady Vols (17-12, 8-8 SEC) will open up the SEC Tournament with a matchup against No. 10 Arkansas (12-17, 7-9 SEC) at Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville on Thursday at 6:00pm ET/5:00pm CT on SEC Network and available via WatchESPN.

The state of Florida and city of Jacksonville are hosting their first-ever SEC women’s tourney. This marks the 31st meeting between these schools, their third bout this season, but the very first time they have played one another in the SEC Tournament.

Tennessee enters Thursday’s game with a 75-19 (.806) all-time record in the previous 36 years of the SEC Tournament.

Clarksville Montgomery County area TDOT Maintenance Work starting March 3rd, 2016

 

Tennessee Department of Transportation - TDOTNashville, TN – The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) reports that on Saturday March 5th, from 7:00am-12:00pm (Noon), Interstate 24 westbound will be reduced to one lane at MM 8 (SR 237, Rossview Road) for bridge construction.

This is part of the bridge replacement project over Interstate 24 (Exit 8) on State Route 237.

Tennessee Titans sign multi-year deal with cornerback Brice McCain

 

Tennessee TitansNashville, TN – The Tennessee Titans agreed to terms on a multi-year contract with cornerback Brice McCain. McCain has been in the NFL for seven seasons.

McCain (5-9, 190) has played 100 games during his seven-year NFL career with the Houston Texans (2009-13), Pittsburgh Steelers (2014) and Miami Dolphins (2015). Last year with the Dolphins, McCain played in 14 games with 11 starts and totaled 39 tackles, eight passes defensed and one interception.

APSU Governors Tennis match postponed against Lindsey Wilson until March 30th

Austin Peay State University Governors - APSUClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University men’s tennis match against Lindsey Wilson originally scheduled for Friday has been postponed to March 30th.

Due to projected low temperatures, the ITA weather rule will force the Govs to miss the outdoor match in Columbia, Kentucky.

Clarksville Police Department - CPDClarksville, TN – Clarksville Police Department Detectives are investigating a death at a residence on the 100 block of State Line Road. The deceased individual was found this morning, February 2nd, 2016 at 9:36am.

Based on the information Clarksville Police have and the leads they are following, there does not appear to be any threats to the public.
