Clarksville’s Dunbar Cave State Park Programs for March 10th – 16th, 2016

Dunbar Cave State Park - Clarksville TNClarksville, TNDunbar Cave State Natural Area has been a State Park since 1973. The cave and its surrounding 110 acres have considerable scenic, natural and historical significance. The entrance offered shelter to prehistoric Native Americans as far back as 10,000 years.

Dunbar Cave State Natural Area will present many nature programs during the year. There are programs for children and adults.

Some of the upcoming events include: Friends of Dunbar Cave Meeting, Man’s Use of Dunbar Cave, Woods Walk, and Dunbar Cave History Walk.

Thursday, March 10th

Friends of Dunbar Cave Meeting

Time: 6:00pm

If you enjoy the park, please come to a meeting and think about joining our Friends group. Meet in the Visitor Center.

Friday, March 11th

Man’s Use of Dunbar Cave

Time: 2:00pm –3:00pm
Ages: 8 to adult

Join us for a walk around the area and learn about how we have used Dunbar Cave in the past.

Reservations by: 4:30pm, March 9th.
Program Leader: Adam Neblett, Ranger


Woods Walk

Time: 3:00pm – 4:30pm
Ages: 4 – adult

Enjoy a walk through the woods and around the lake.

Tuesday, March 15th

Morning Walk

Time: 8:00am – 10:00am
Ages: All ages

Join us for an early walk on the park.

Dunbar Cave History Walk

Time: 4:00pm – 5:00pm
Ages: 5 – adult

Join us for a walk around the area and learn about Dunbar’s past.

Reservations by: 4:30pm, March 13th.

Wednesday, March 16th

Early Spring Wildflower Walk

Time: 8:00am – 9:30am
Ages: Adults

We will walk the Short Loop Trail and look for toothwort, spring beauty, rue anemone and other spring flowers.

Reservations by: 4:30pm, March 14th.

Dunbar Cave State Park Programs Information

Programs are free unless noted otherwise. All programs require reservations by the Deadline Listed. Programs with no reservations by the deadline will be canceled.

All programs begin at the Visitor Center unless another site is listed.

Children must be accompanied by an adult (one adult for each three children).

Age limits are definite – please do not sign up a child who is younger or older than the age limits given.

Dunbar Cave State Park is located at 401 Old Dunbar Cave Road, Clarksville Tennessee.

Port Royal State Historic Park is located at 3300 Old Clarksville Springfield Road, Adams, Tennessee.
