Clarksville Parks and Recreation now excepting registration for 38th Annual Queen City Road Race

Clarksville Parks and Recreation DepartmentClarksville, TN – It’s that time of year again to lace up those running shoes and begin preparing for the 38th Annual Queen City Road Race scheduled for Saturday, May 7th, 2016.

The Queen City Road Race event is a Clarksville tradition promoting fitness and fun for all ages.

38th Annual Queen City Road Race

The 10K and 5K race routes take runners through the streets of Historic Downtown Clarksville, beginning and ending at Austin Peay State University’s Foy Center, while the One Mile Movement route takes you on an exciting tour of a portion of the APSU campus.

For over thirty years, hundreds of Clarksville-Montgomery County and Fort Campbell school students, teachers and family members have participated in this Clarksville tradition.

Runners have the opportunity again this year to push themselves with the 3.1 miles of the 5K race or choose to go even farther to reach a total distance of 6.21 miles with the new 10K race.

The Queen City Road Race is not just a running competition; it is a promotion for fitness and health in the Clarksville community. As in years past, the Queen City Road Race will include a noncompetitive, one-mile event. Participants can complete the mile at any speed or rate they choose. It doesn’t matter if you run, walk or skip the mile; just as long as you are up and moving. Cost is only $5.00!

Registration for the Queen City Road Race is simple. Those registering may do so online or in person. Online registration can be completed by visiting www.cityofclarksville.com/qcrr

Register now through April 15th to receive the “early bird” rates of only $20.00 for the 5K, and $25.00 for the 10K. After April 15th, registration will be available through race day, however the rates for both races will increase by $5.00 each.

The 38th Annual Queen City Road Race is presented by the City of Clarksville and Cumberland Bank and Trust and is co-sponsored by Austin Peay State University, the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System, the Clarksville Montgomery County School System Coordinated School Health, NorthCrest Medical Center, The Leaf-Chronicle, and Lamar Advertising.
