Clarksville, TN – Aside from his duties as an assistant professor of musical theatre at Austin Peay State University, Dr. Christopher Bailey is also an accomplished, singer, composer, music director and audio engineer.
Bailey recently had the opportunity to display his many talents, as he spent his spring break as a featured background vocalist with internationally renowned vocal group, Celtic Woman.Bailey joined the group as they continued their “Destiny” world tour with two shows in Nashville at the Tennessee Performing Arts Center’s Jackson Hall.
In all, he was contracted for eight shows with the group, with the possibility of summer shows to follow.
“I am singing 10 songs in the show as a featured background vocalist, and I have a featured solo in the opening of act two, called ‘Skyrim,’ a song based on the popular video game theme as arranged by the creators of Celtic Woman,” Bailey said. “My lyrics are in Gaelic, and other songs I sing on include ‘Whole of the Moon,’ ‘Westering Home,’ ‘Orinoco Flow,’ and ‘Teir Abhaile.’”
Bailey has been busy as a performer, joining singer and Broadway actress (“Wicked”) Kristin Chenoweth as a background vocalist for her December 2015 concerts at Schermohorn Symphony Center in Nashville, as well as performing on new cast recordings for Disney and Music Theatre International’s “The Little Mermaid (December 2015)” and “A Chorus Line (February 2016).”
