Hilltop Super Market’s Easter Egg Hunt a delight for young and old alike

Hilltop SupermarketClarksville, TN – On Saturday, March 26th, Hilltop Super Market held their 21st annual Easter Egg Hunt. The skies were clear, weather warm, and there was a slight breeze. It was a great day for the event.

Festivities began at 11:00am and the egg hunt started at 2:00pm. Some of the activities were inflatable bounce houses provided by U Jumpin’ Foulks, face painting done by Montgomery Central High School Cheerleaders, a duck pond, cupcake decorating and plenty more.

The Palmyra Volunteer Fire Department was cooking free hotdogs, giving away drinks and holding a raffle for a quilt. Central Pizza has handing out free slices of their wonderful pizza. North Meets South was giving away free doughnut holes that were simply delicious. There was plenty of food to go around.

The Easter egg hunt was broken down into four groups; up to 4 year olds, 5 to 6 year olds, 7 to 9 year olds and the 10 to 12 year old group.

Just over 7,000 Easter eggs filled with candy was scattered on the grass. Along with those there, there were 700 eggs that contained a ticket good for a prize. This year there were mini grand prizes and grand prizes.

The grand prizes were 14 bikes and a basketball goal. The mini grand prizes were large stuff animals, drones, remote control vehicles, Easter baskets and more.

The other prizes included small stuffed animals, hula hoops, Nerf footballs, plastic swords, jump ropes, match box cars and plenty of others.

Before the hunt began, the Palmyra Volunteer Fire Department held the drawing for the quilt. Dorris Abbott was the winner.

There were over 900 children lined to take part in the Easter egg hunt and an estimated 2,000 parents and others there to watch. When the start was signaled, children swarmed across the lawn gathering up all the eggs they could. In no time flat, the grass was swept clean of eggs.

“Everything today went really good this year. It is one of the smoothest Easter egg hunts we’ve had in a long long time,” stated Hilltop manager Mike Jackson.

It takes a lot of help to put on an event like this. The Montgomery Central High School Cheerleaders, Montgomery Central Key club, Palmyra Volunteer Fire Department, as well as Hilltop Super Market employees, family and friends all volunteered to help.

“This is just a community thing we started back in 1995. It started out as a small Easter egg hunt and now it’s probably one of the biggest ones in Montgomery County,” said Jackson. “We started it as a community event and then each year more and more businesses joined in with us to help with it. It just grows every year.”

“This is something we do to give back to the community and to let everyone know how much we appreciate them shopping here with us,” said Jackson.

This is a great event for the Montgomery County community. For those that did not attend this event, make sure to come out next year and see what all the fuss is about. It just keeps getting bigger and better each year.
