Austin Peay State University Baseball falters at Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders

Austin Peay State University Governors - APSUMurfreesboro, TN – Austin Peay State University’s baseball team could not overcome a double whammy of surrendering too many hits and not posting enough of its own in a 6-5 nonconference loss to Middle Tennessee, Tuesday night, at Reese Smith Jr. Field.

Middle Tennessee (14-15) rapped out a season-high 16 hits against the Govs pitching staff, with a hit in all eight innings. The Blue Raiders opened the scoring with two outs in the second with four consecutive singles, catcher Vaughn Shapen’s driving in a pair of runs for a 3-0 lead.

Female reports having her rear slapped on APSU Campus

 

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – A female on the APSU campus reports that she was walking towards the Woodward Library at approximately 10:30pm when an unknown male subject ran up behind her and slapped her on the the buttocks.

The male then fled from the area of the library north towards the bookstore.

Clarksville Police reports Traffic Accident on Old Russellville Pike

 

Clarksville Police Department - CPDClarksville, TN – This evening, March 5th, 2016 at 8:11pm, Clarksville Police Officers responded to a single-vehicle crash on Old Russellville Pike between Warfield Boulevard and Centennial Drive.

A van was traveling south on Old Russellville Pike and left the roadway. When the van left the roadway it struck a brick mailbox, then a utility pole, and then a house.

Trip to Evansville next for APSU Lady Govs Softball

APSU Softball - Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – On Wednesday at 4:00apm, the APSU softball team will step out of Ohio Valley Conference play, 3:00pm, Wednesday, when its travels to Indiana and James & Dorothy Cooper Stadium for a doubleheader versus Evansville.

The Austin Peay State University Lady Govs (5-22) enter the twinbill having dropped it last nine games, including a three-game OVC series versus UT Martin last weekend, while Evansville (14-18) dropped two of three games at Bradley last weekend and nine of its last 12 games overall.

Wind Advisory issued for Clarksville-Montgomery County tomorrow

 

National Weather ServiceNashville, TN – The National Weather Service (NWS) in Nashville has issued a wind advisory for Clarksville-Montgomery County which is in effect from 9:00am to 7:00pm CT Wednesday.

An approaching cold front will help generate gusty winds on Wednesday. By 9:00am, sustained winds will increase to 15 to 25 mph. These south to southwest winds will continue through the day with some gusts of 40 to 45 mph.

APSU Tennis - Austin Peay State University Governors Clarksville, TN – APSU men’s tennis team notched its third Ohio Valley Conference victory, Tuesday, cruising to a 6-1 decision over Murray State at the Foy Fitness Center outdoor courts.

The Austin Peay State University Governors (4-8, 3-2 OVC) have now won four of their last five matches, including a third-straight win in OVC play.

FOCUS Act Passes Tennessee General Assembly, Heads to Governor’s Desk

State of TennesseeNashville, TN – Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam praised passage of the Focus On College and University Success (FOCUS) Act, legislation that organizes and empowers Tennessee’s public colleges and universities to increase student success and the number of Tennesseans with a postsecondary credential.

Monday night, the Senate passed the FOCUS Act 31-1, and with the bill having passed the House in March, the legislation is now on its way to the governor’s desk.

APSU’s Dave Loos will return as head coach for Austin Peay Men’s Basketball

Austin Peay State University Governors - APSUClarksville, TN – APSU basketball head coach Dave Loos, who led Austin Peay State University to a miracle run to the Ohio Valley Conference tournament championship, will return as Governors head coach for the 2016-17 season. That was announced Tuesday by APSU Athletics Director Ryan Ivey.

“We are excited to have Coach Loos returning for his 27th season,” said Ivey. “This season was an incredible and magical run, and I look forward to helping Coach Loos and his talented staff build upon the momentum to achieve future success.
