Alex Robles solid start leads APSU Baseball Govs to 6-1 win over Southeast Missouri

APSU Baseaball - Austin Peay State University Governors - APSUClarksville, TN – Behind eight solid innings from starting pitcher Alex Robles, APSU’s baseball team handed Southeast Missouri its first Ohio Valley Conference loss, 6-1, Friday night at Raymond C. Hand Park.

Austin Peay State University (17-11, 9-4 OVC) broke up a 1-1 pitcher’s duel in the sixth inning, aided by a dose of Southeast Missouri defensive miscues.

Austin Peay State University Lady Govs - APSUClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University women’s tennis team pulled off its first sweep of the 2016 season, cruising over Tennessee State 7-0, Friday, at the Governors Tennis Center.

The Lady Govs (5-9, 4-4 OVC) entered the weekend seventh in the Ohio Valley Conference standings, so each victory from this point forward is key.

Nashville Sounds beat Oklahoma City Dodgers 2-1 in extra innings

Renato Nunez drives in Max Muncy to give the Sounds a win

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – Renato Nunez hit a line drive into the right-center gap to score Max Muncy all the way from first to give the Nashville Sounds a 2-1 walk-off win over the Oklahoma City Dodgers Friday night in front of 5,441 fans at First Tennessee Park.

Muncy started the bottom of the 11th with a sharp single to right to set up Nunez who hit the second pitch he saw from Oklahoma City reliever Grant Dayton.

The Sounds (1-1) held a 1-0 lead for the majority of the game. That was until Dodgers (1-1) catcher Yasmani Grandal belted a solo homer off Angel Castro in the top of the ninth. Both teams were quiet in extra innings until the big hit from Nunez.

Austin Peay State University Governors - APSUClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University men’s tennis team extended its Ohio Valley Conference winning streak, Friday, knocking off Tennessee State 6-1 at the Governors Tennis Center.

The Governors (5-8, 4-2 OVC) have now won four consecutive matches in league play, all occurring on their home court.

Tennessee State Representative - District 67Nashville, TN – Several bills sponsored by Tennessee State Representative Joe Pitts (D-Clarksville) moved along in committees last week.  This is a general update on the bills and events on the Hill from last week.

House Bill 1410/Senate Bill 1484 (Senator Mark Green (R-Clarksville) cleared the House Local Full Committee this week and is now scheduled for the Finance Sub Committee on Tuesday, April 12th.  This legislation will repeal the “Save our Property Tax Relief” legislation, Public Chapter 481, which passed last year.

Austin Peay State University Lady Govs - APSUClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s softball team will play host to Ohio Valley Conference opponents Belmont and Tennessee State this weekend for a pair of conference doubleheaders at Cheryl Holt Field.

The Govs (5-22, 1-9 OVC) will open play, noon, Saturday, versus the Bruins (12-23, 5-5 OVC), with the Tigers (7-30, 0-10 OVC) coming in Sunday, also a scheduled noon first pitch.

Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office searches for Missing Teen Ashley Suiter

 

Montgomery County Sheriff's Office - MCSOClarksville, TN – Investigators with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office are asking for the community’s assistance in locating a teen runaway.

Ashley Faith Suiter, 16, was last seen on Tuesday, April 5th at approximately 5:30am at her home on Hand Drive. Shortly thereafter she left her residence and has not been seen since.

Suiter is 5 foot 8 inches tall, 130 pounds, with long light brown hair with blonde highlights. She was last seen wearing black capris pants, a camo and red shirt with a deer on it.

APSU Lady Govs Volleyball releases 2016 Fall Schedule

Austin Peay State University Lady Govs - APSUClarksville, TN – The countdown to the 2016 Austin Peay State University volleyball team season opener began Friday when head coach Taylor Mott revealed the dates for the program’s fall schedule.

In 142 days, the Governors volleyball team will open the season, August 26th-27th, in Johnson City, TN when it competes at East Tennessee’s tournament alongside Troy, USC Upstate and host East Tennessee.

Kenwood High School conducts mock Texting and Driving Crash

 

Clarksville Police Department - CPDClarksville, TN – On Thursday, April 6th, 2016 at 1:00pm at the Kenwood High School Football Field, Amy Grubbs Jackson’s KHS Drama Students, Clarksville Police Department’s Traffic Unit, Clarksville Fire & Rescue, Montgomery County EMS, Dispatch and Vanderbilt’s Life Flight staged a head-on crash caused by texting and driving.

The photos posted on the CPD’s Facebook page tell the story from when the first responders arrived on the crash scene to the end of the scene. The KHS Drama students posed as the victims and friends or family of the victims.
