APSU Lady Govs Softball travels to Middle Tennessee Tuesday

APSU Softball - Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s softball team will make the short 85-mile trek down Interstate 24, Tuesday, to Murfreesboro, for a 4:00pm rematch with Middle Tennessee.

This game is a make-up from the original March 31st date. In the first meeting, March 16th, Austin Peay (6-25) lost a 6-0 decision to the Blue Raiders at Cheryl Holt Field.

APSU Governors Golf sits in ninth at Wofford Invitational

APSU Men's Golf - Austin Peay State UniversitySpartanburg, SC – Austin Peay State University men’s golf team could not maintain the momentum in the afternoon it mustered in the morning, Monday, in the 28th Annual Coca-Cola Wofford Invitational.

As a result, the Governors are tied for ninth heading into Tuesday’s final day of the event, being played at The Country Club of Spartanburg.

TWRA to host 2016 Outdoors-Woman Workshop June 3rd-5th in Crossville

 

Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency - TWRANashville, TN – The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) will host the 2016 Becoming an Outdoors-Woman (BOW) workshop June 3rd-5th the in Crossville at the Clyde M. York 4-H Center.

The relaxed atmosphere of the BOW workshop is primarily aimed at women, and is an opportunity for those 18 or older to learn outdoor skills usually associated with hunting and fishing.

The Governors return to the road after winning an Ohio Valley Conference series, 2-1, against Southeast Missouri over the weekend.

Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office reports Death of Inmate Tawnya Smith

 

Montgomery County Sheriff's Office - MCSOClarksville, TN – The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an inmate death that occurred Monday morning.

Tawnya Smith, 31, was booked into the detention center on Monday at 12:15am on two counts of child abuse and neglect, simple possession, and unlawful drug paraphernalia.

Jail Deputies discovered Smith unresponsive in her cell at 11:10am during routine hourly security checks.

Austin Peay State University announces APSU Governors Stadium to be renamed Fortera Stadium

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s historic Governors Stadium will soon don a new name through a partnership with Fortera Credit Union. The 25-year, $2.5 million agreement will see the home of APSU football be renamed Fortera Stadium.

Crews will begin work to install signage reflecting its new identity in the days to come as the University and Fortera prepare to celebrate a new era.  A celebration will take place Saturday, April 23rd at the home entrance of the stadium, following the final day of spring football practice. The event is free and open to the public.

Clarksville’s Rivers and Spires announces Road Closures for this weekend

 

Clarksville Rivers and Spires FestivalClarksville, TN – Road closures for this week have been announced for the 14th Annual Rivers & Spires Festival in downtown Clarksville.

The Rivers & Spires Festival takes place April 14th-16th in downtown Clarksville. It is free and open to the public. The Festival features five stages of music and entertainment, arts and crafts, marketplace, food vendors and activities for all ages.
