APSU Baseball Govs beat Lipscomb Bisons, 11-8

APSU Baseball - Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – Right fielder Chase Hamilton hit a grand slam and third baseman Logan Gray hit a two-run home run as Austin Peay State University’s baseball team powered its way past Lipscomb, 11-8 in Tuesday night nonconference action at Raymond C. Hand Park.

Austin Peay starter John Sparks (1-1) worked out of a jam after allowing the first two Lipscomb batters to reach base. He would surrender just one run on back-to-back fielder’s choice plays before catcher Ridge Smith ended the frame by throwing out a runner at second base.

Nashville Sounds game at Colorado Springs Sky Sox postponed due to wet field

 

Doubleheader to be Played Wednesday

Nashville SoundsColorado Springs, CO – Tuesday night’s game between the Nashville Sounds and Colorado Springs Sky Sox has been postponed due to wet field conditions.

The two teams will play a doubleheader at Security Service Field Wednesday, April 20th with game one set to begin at 12:05pm. Game two will follow approximately 30 minutes after the conclusion of game one.

Both games will be seven inning contests.

APSU Lady Govs Softball heads to Samford for final non-conference games

APSU Softball - Austin Peay State UniversityBirmingham, AL – Austin Peay State University’s softball team will step out of Ohio Valley Conference play for the final time in 2016, 3:00pm, Wednesday, when it travels to Samford University for a doubleheader.

The Governors (6-29) enter the twinbill having been held scoreless for the last 23 innings, including being swept in a three-game OVC series at Eastern Illinois this past weekend.

Clarksville honors Tyler Barrett with Road Sign

 

Clarksville Police Department - CPDClarksville, TN – Today, April 19th, 2016, at 2:00pm, Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan, the Clarksville City Council, CPD Chief Al Ansley, CPD personnel, the Clarksville Streets Department, and Tyler Barrett’s family and friends gathered together at an event to unveil a road sign honoring Tyler Barrett.

Detective Barrett, a long-time officer with the Clarksville Police Department and a dedicated husband, father and public servant, died in November 2015. The sign was installed near the intersection of 41-A at Excell Road.

APSU Lady Govs Golf falls to sixth after Day 2 of OVC Championship

APSU Women's Golf - Austin Peay State UniversityOwens Cross Roads, AL – It started with an unfulfilling trip to a clinic early in the morning and the day didn’t get any better for Austin Peay State University women’s golf team, Tuesday, in second-day play of the Ohio Valley Conference championship.

As a result, APSU’s women shot a second-round 311 and dropped to sixth place heading to Wednesday’s final day on The Highlands Course at The Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail at Hampton Cove.

Clarksville-Montgomery County Public Library to hold Guitar Concert Thursday, April 21st

 

Clarksville-Montgomery County Public LibraryClarksville, TN – On Thursday, April 21st, 2016, the Clarksville-Montgomery County Public Library will host a free concert by the Clarksville Youth Guitar Ensemble for a concert at 4:30pm in the library atrium.

Led by director Vanessa Green, they will be performing classical and traditional Celtic pieces.

APSU Athletics to hold Spring Fling this Saturday, April 23rd

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsClarksville, TN – Spring has officially been in season for nearly a month and Austin Peay State University athletics will get in on the action Saturday, April 23rd by hosting its Spring Fling, a cross-sport initiative that will culminate in the stadium naming rights celebration at Fortera Stadium.

At 5:45pm, following the Spring Game, there will be a brief ceremony as the home of Governors football officially becomes Fortera Stadium, part of a 25-year, $2.5 million partnership between APSU Athletics and Fortera Credit Union.

The runaway juvenile is 16-year-old Maurice Gaines from Clarksville, TN.

Maurice was last seen on April 15th, 2016.

101st Airborne Division’s Wedge Battalion conducts field training exercise at Fort Campbell

Fort Campbell, KY – Soldiers of 129 Combat Sustainment Support Battalion, 101st Airborne Division Sustainment Brigade, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), conducted a Battalion level field training exercise, Operation Eagle Hammer, on Fort Campbell, Kentucky, from April 4th-13th.

The Soldiers of 129 CSSB went through situational training exercise lanes, convoy live fires, and company field training exercises in order to prepare for Operation Eagle Hammer.

Within the first days of the exercise each company was given a designated area. Soldiers then had to set up their perimeter defense in order to defend their company’s area from enemy forces.
