APSU Lady Govs Softball drops doubleheader at Samford

APSU Softball - Austin Peay State UniversityBirmingham, AL – Austin Peay State University’s softball team ended its run of scoreless innings, Wednesday, but couldn’t come away with a victory, as they dropped 7-0 and 5-1 finals to Samford.

Carly Mattson‘s second home run of the season, with one out in the top of the fourth inning of the second game, ended a run of 33 1/3 innings without scoring a run for the Lady Govs (6-31) – the longest such streak since the 2000 season.

Six Run Fourth Leads Sounds To Game Two Win

Nashville SoundsColorado Springs, CO – The Nashville Sounds and Colorado Springs Sky Sox split a doubleheader Tuesday afternoon at Security Service Field.

The Sounds fell in game one of the doubleheader, 5-4, when Orlando Arcia belted a walk-off three-run homer in the bottom of the seventh inning.

Nashville returned the favor in game two with an 8-1 win. A six-run fourth inning and complete game effort from Dillon Overton highlighted the win.

The Sounds jumped out to an early lead in game one of the doubleheader scoring three runs in the first two innings. Max Muncy’s sacrifice fly in the first started the scoring. They added a pair in the bottom of the second when Joey Wendle singled to right, scoring Matt Olson. Bruce Maxwell plated the third run with a fielder’s choice.

Tennessee Regulatory Authority (TRA) Imposes Fine For Violations of Do Not Call Law

 

Tennessee Regulatory AuthorityNashville, TN – The Tennessee Regulatory Authority (TRA) along with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and nine other states filed a complaint against Caribbean Cruise Line, Inc. for violating the Tennessee and federal Do Not Call Telemarketing laws and has issued a fine in the amount of $500,000.

Both telemarketing laws were established to prohibit unwanted telephone solicitation calls to consumers.

APSU Women's Golf - Austin Peay State UniversityOwens Cross Roads, ALMorgan Kauffman couldn’t have picked a better time to step up.

With senior Jessica Cathey struggling with allergy issues this week, Kauffman, the lone Austin Peay State University junior involved in this week’s Ohio Valley Conference women’s championship, basically accepted the baton from APSU’s only senior and served as team scoring leader over the final two days.

Bill to prevent Allergy Emergencies in Public Places becomes Law in Tennessee

 

Tennessee State GovernmentNashville, TN – A bill to allow epinephrine auto-injectors to be available in public spaces has become law in Tennessee. The legislation was approved unanimously by the House and Senate and has been signed by the governor.

Senator Mark Green (R-Clarksville) and Representative. Sabi Kumar (R-Springfield) were prime sponsors of the legislation, HB2054/SB1989.
