Nashville Sounds allow six run inning in loss to Memphis Redbirds

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – A six-run second inning paved the way for the Memphis Redbirds in a 7-6 win over the Nashville Sounds in front of 8,123 fans Friday night at First Tennessee Park.

The Sounds plated runs in four separate innings after the Redbirds took a commanding 6-0 lead, but the rally fell short in yet another one-run loss.

The scoring in the six-run inning started right away when Anthony Garcia doubled and Jonathan Rodriguez singled to make it 1-0.

Chase Hamilton belts two home runs to help APSU Governors beat UT Martin 8-3

APSU Baseball - Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – Junior right fielder Chase Hamilton hit a pair of solo home runs and sparked a four-run rally to help push Austin Peay State University’s baseball team past UT Martin, 8-3, in the Ohio Valley Conference series opener, Friday night, at Raymond C. Hand Park.

Austin Peay starter Alex Robles (8-2) got off to a rough start in a 28-pitch first inning, allowing three base runners to reach base with two outs.

APSU Lady Govs Softball plays Murray State at home this weekend

APSU Softball - Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s softball team will host Murray State for a three-game Ohio Valley Conference series, this weekend at Cheryl Holt Field, to close out its 2016 regular-season schedule.

The Governors (8-36, 4-20 OVC) and Racers will open play, with a noon, Saturday doubleheader and conclude the series on Sunday with a noon single game.

Bi-County Solid Waste Management Stops Outside Refuse Collection May 1st, 2016

 

Montgomery County TennesseeMontgomery County, TN – The decision was made in 2012 for Bi-County Solid Waste Management (SWM) to accept and haul refuse from neighboring counties. As of May 1st, 2016, Bi-County SWM will not accept or haul any refuse from outside Stewart and Montgomery Counties until further notice.

Montgomery County Mayor Jim Durrett states, “We have recently become aware that our landfill expansion permit has not yet been issued. Without the ability to expand our current landfill capacity, we cannot accommodate the neighboring counties and still leave room for the disposal needs of our own citizens.”

Bi-County Solid Waste Management has stopped accepting refuse from outside Stewart County and Montgomery Counties until further notice.

Clarksville Police look to identify Theft, Fraud suspects

 

Clarksville Police Department - CPDClarksville, TN – Clarksville Police Detective Thomas Tranberg is trying to identify two suspects involved in Theft of Property and Fraudulent Use of a Credit Card incidents (one victim) that occurred at Walmart on Fort Campbell Boulevard and is requesting public assistance.

On April 15th, 2016 at approximately 9:00pm the two suspects in the pictures attached stole the victim’s purse and then used the credit cards and a Walmart gift card that were inside the purse.

Austin Peay awards Decorated Soldier Jose Ramoslopez the APSU ROTC CSM Darol Walker Award

 

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – The recipient of the 2016 Command Sgt. Maj. Darol Walker Award at Austin Peay State University is ROTC Cadet Jose Ramoslopez, a decorated career soldier.

Ramoslopez, born in Puerto Rico, will graduate May 6th from APSU with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice degree and a minor in military science.

Clarksville Riverside Drive Riverbank Stabilization Project completed ahead of schedule

U.S. Army Corps of EngineersClarksville, TN – The U. S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District and the city of Clarksville celebrated the completion of the Riverside Drive Stream Bank Stabilization Project during a ceremony at Freedom Point in Liberty Park.

Lt. Col. Stephen Murphy, Nashville District commander, Corps employees, Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillian, city officials, and representatives from the project contractor, Choctaw Transportation, Inc., from Dyersburg, Tennessee, gathered to commemorate the project, which work crews completed three months early.
