Nashville Sounds pitcher Zach Neal dominates in 2-1 win over Memphis Redbirds

 

Right-Hander Allowed One Run in Season-High Eight Innings

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – Zach Neal turned in eight dominant innings to lead the Sounds to a 2-1 win over the Memphis Redbirds in front of 9,316 fans Saturday night at First Tennessee Park.

The right-hander limited Memphis to just one run on three hits in his eight frames. He didn’t walk a batter and struck out four in his fourth win of the season. The eight-inning effort is the longest start by a Sounds hurler this year.

Neal cruised through the first two innings before Memphis scored the game’s first run in the third. Tommy Pham lined a two-out base hit up the middle to score Alberto Rosario to give the Redbirds a 1-0 lead.

Multiple Shots Fired at Montgomery County Sheriff’s Deputy

 

Montgomery County Sheriff's Office - MCSOClarksville, TN – Three juveniles and one adult have been taken into custody in connection with multiple shots being fired at a Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) Deputy.

While on patrol, Deputy Adam Liberatore noticed a suspicious vehicle parked at a church at the corner of Lock B Road and Hickory Point Road Friday night at 11:53pm. As he pulled into the church parking lot the vehicle drove off at a high rate of speed onto Lock B Road.

2016 Spring Turkey Season ends Sunday, May 15th

 

Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency - TWRANashville, TN – The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency say the spring hunting season for turkeys is heading down the home stretch with harvest numbers currently similar to last year.

Tennessee turkey hunters are looking to surpass the 30,000 harvest mark for the 14th consecutive year. With more than a week remaining, the harvest stands at 29,360 as compared to 28,911 for the same period last year.

Former APSU Athletics Representative Dr. Gaines Hunt to be inducted into the Ohio Valley Conference Hall of Fame

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsBrentwood, TN – Former Austin Peay Faculty Athletics Representative Dr. Gaines Hunt has been elected into the Ohio Valley Conference Hall of Fame. His induction will be made official at the annual OVC Honors Brunch Friday, June 3rd at the DoubleTree Hotel in downtown Nashville.

The Ohio Valley Conference Hall of Fame was organized in 1977 with the intent of honoring the coaches, administrators, faculty and staff that have been associated with the OVC for at least five years and provided extensive and outstanding service to the Conference. With the induction of this year’s class, the membership will reach 79.

Hilltop SupermarketClarksville, TN – Hilltop Super Market’s Dwayne Byard Memorial BBQ Cook Off and Car Show got started Friday night, May 6th. Over forty cars from Corvettes to Chevrolets to Mustangs were on display. Several hundred people came by for the event.

“I think this event is great. They do it every year. It’s always a great community event,” stated Lynn Dallas. “We are car buffs so we like to go out and see the cool cars. We come here every year. We always look forward to when they put this on.”
