Clarksville Parks and Recreation Report for May 8th, 2016

Clarksville Parks and Recreation DepartmentClarksville, TN – The weekly Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department Recreation Report provides Clarksvillians with a glimpse at the activities and events that are available from the Parks and Recreation Department for them to enjoy together as a family.

This weeks highlights include: Spring Campout, Free Sunrise Yoga, and Visual Healing Arts.

Sunrise Yoga

Spring Campout

Clarksville Parks and Recreation invites you to sleep under the stars at Billy Dunlop Park, located at 1930 East Boy Scout Road.

Registration is underway for the spring Family Campout beginning at 4:00pm Saturday, May 14th, until 9:00am Sunday, May 15th.

The Family Campout is $10.00 per person or $40.00 per family (up to 6 members) and will include an afternoon and evening of games and fun as well as a hot dog dinner Saturday night and breakfast Sunday morning.

Families will need to provide their own tent and sleeping materials. Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Pre-registration is required and is available at Clarksville Parks and Recreation, located at 102 Public Square or online at www.cityofclarksville.com/parksrec

Deadline to register is May 11th.

Free Sunrise Yoga

Hosted by Clarksville Parks and Recreation and the YMCA

What better way to start your day, than to enjoy the beautiful scenery of the Cumberland River, while participating in a free, morning yoga class? Clarksville Parks and Recreation and the Clarksville area YMCA have partnered once again to host Sunrise Yoga every Wednesday and Friday morning at Liberty Park. Class meets from 6:00am to 7:00am near the outdoor fitness equipment. Open to all ages.

Participants are encouraged to bring their own yoga mat. The participant(s) with the highest attendance at the end of the program will be eligible to receive a gift card! Registration for Sunrise Yoga is available at Clarksville Parks and Recreation or online at www.cityofclarksville.com/parksrec

Visual Healing Arts

Kleeman Center offers new session of visual healing arts program

If you are searching for a way to relax, VIVID’s visual healing arts program could be just what you are looking for. Vivid allows you to unlock your mind, body, and soul while learning the techniques of creating art.

Vivid classes meet from 1:00pm-2:30pm on the following Saturdays: May 21st, June 4th and June 18th. Classes are held at the Kleeman Recreation Center, located at 166 Cunningham Lane. During Vivid, participants can expect a relaxed atmosphere while soothing music plays as they are taught painting techniques. After all four classes, participants will have a finished canvas painting to take home.

Cost is $40.00 per participant. Fee includes all supplies. Open to adults ages 18 and up. Pre-registration is required. Limited spots available. Reserve yours today online at www.cityofclarksville.com/parksrec
