Clarksville Downtown Kiwanis Club Awards Annual Scholarship to Clarksville Academy’s Evelyn Turner

Kiwanis Club of ClarksvilleMontgomery County, TN – The Kiwanis Club of Clarksville (Downtown) recently awarded their annual $2,000 scholarship to Evelyn Turner.

Turner is a recent graduate of Clarksville Academy, with plans to attend the University of Tennessee at Martin in August. Turner was a member of the Clarksville Academy Key Club, sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Clarksville (Downtown).

Turner was selected for her outstanding academic achievement and civic involvement during her high school career.

Downtown Kiwanis President Phillip Tucker states, “Evelyn is very civic-minded and passionate about giving back to her community. We are pleased to be able to support her as she enters college and wish her much success in her college career.”

The Kiwanis Club of Clarksville (Downtown) was formed in 1920 and has been funding scholarships since 1957. This Kiwanis club is now comprised of over 100 active members.

Founded on the principal “Young Children: Priority One”, Kiwanis works to improve the lives of youth throughout our community through project and events such as local Key Clubs, the annual Interview a Veteran essay contest, hosting a Children’s Christmas Party, and the Reading is Fundamental program to name a few.
