Clarksville-Montgomery County under Flash Flood Watch until late tonight

National Weather ServiceNashville, TN – The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch which is in effect until 1:00am tonight for areas generally along and north of a line from Waynesboro to Woodbury to Jamestown. This includes the Clarksville-Montgomery County.

Widespread showers and thunderstorms expected through tonight which will lead to locally heavy rainfall of 2 to 4 inches with higher amounts. Intense rainfall rates may lead to several inches of rain in a short amount of time.

Some storms will be strong with heavy rainfall and possibly gusty winds and hail as well. Heavy rainfall may produce localized flash flooding.

Flash flooding is possible with the heaviest downpours leading to quick flooding of roads, poor drainage areas and other low lying locations.

A flash flood watch means that conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should flash flood warnings be issued.
