New Orleans, LA – The Nashville Sounds swept the New Orleans Zephyrs with a 5-1 win Tuesday night at Zephyrs field.
The Sounds have now won four consecutive games pushing their record to 15 games over .500 at 63-48. The record matches the team’s high-water mark of 15 games over for the season.
Since being called up from Double-A Midland, Sounds starter Raul Alcantara had not allowed an earned run in 20 2/3 innings. That was until a two-out RBI single from Isacc Galloway plated Tomas Telis in the seventh inning.

Cunningham, TN – On Saturday, July 30th, 2016 Merriel Bullock-Neal, candidate for the Circuit Court Judge 19th Judicial District Part III, talked to those in attendance at the 108th annual Lone Oak Picnic put on by the Central Civitan Club.
“I have a bachelor degree from Howard University in Washington D.C. I also have a masters in special education from Howard University. I have taught 5 years in the public school system. So I know what it’s like to be a classroom teacher, be involved with youth, be involved with families and so forth,” Bullock-Neal said.
Austin Peay State University announces Fort Campbell Colonel James R. Salome to deliver keynote at Summer Commencement
Clarksville, TN – Fort Campbell Garrison Commander Colonel James R. Salome will deliver the keynote address at Austin Peay State University’s 88th Summer Commencement on August 5th.
Salome took command of Fort Campbell on June 18th, 2015, after arriving from Fort Bragg, North Carolina, where he served as the Commander’s Initiatives Group director, U.S. Army Forces Command. Salome previously served with 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division, as an operations officer.

“As a judicial candidate, I can’t tell you what I would do in a case. All I can tell you is my background, my experience and my family. I am retired military. I went to the United States Military Academy. Spent 20 years in the military and then retired from there,” said Crozier Jr.
$5,000 offered in 1980 Stewart County kidnapping and murder of two teens
Nashville, TN – Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam today announced a $5,000 reward for information leading to the apprehension, arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the kidnapping and murder in 1980 of sisters Carla Atkins and Vickie Stout.
“We believe someone has information that could help solve this case, and we want whoever is responsible for this crime to be brought to justice,” Haslam said. “We ask anyone with knowledge of the case to come forward.”

Nashville, TN – The National Weather Service (NWS) says hazardous weather is possible today for Clarksville-Montgomery County and parts of Middle Tennessee.
There is a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. A few storms may become strong to severe, especially West of Interstate 65.
The main threat will be damaging straight line winds and localized flooding through 9:00pm.
