She will continue to be the team’s recruiting coordinator, while also adding responsibilities on and off the hardwood.

“I’ve put a lot on her plate as far as recruiting, on the court coaching and many other tasks in the office,” Midlick said. “She has not only done them, but has done so at an extremely high level.

“Kayla has done a great job with doing what I’ve asked, and going above and beyond. She’s helped Chelsea (Turner) and Tessah (Holt) – who are in their first college coaching jobs – and even more importantly, our team. She has earned the players’ trust and respect, and this promotion is very deserving.”

Oxenrider graduated from Bloomsburg University in 2013 with an education degree. In the same year, she began her coaching career as an assistant at Albright College, before transitioning to St. Francis (Pa.) in 2014.

“I have a lot of trust in Ryan Ivey as our athletics director and in Coach Midlick,” Oxenrider said. “David has helped me along the way and I’ve learned a ton from him. I always strive to be the best I can be at anything, just like I preach to our student-athletes every day. It’s a huge honor and I’m excited to continue coaching at Austin Peay.”
