Ohio enjoyed a 37-21 win over Kansas. The Bobcats never trailed, jumping out to a 28-7 lead in the first half and dominating the time of possession, 43:38 to 16:22. Ohio rumbled to 329 rushing yards behind the one-two punch of quarterback Greg Windham (16 carries, 146 yards, one touchdown) and running back Dorian Brown (20 carries, 122 yards).

Dobbs in the Books

Senior quarterback Joshua Dobbs rushed for 106 yards and two scores against Virginia Tech, setting the Tennessee career record for rushing yards by a quarterback. Dobbs now has 1,431 yards on the ground, moving him past Jimmy Streater at 1,374 career yards.

With 207 total yards against VT, Dobbs now owns 5,974 career yards. That figure moves him into sixth all-time at UT.

The 30-Point Mark

Tennessee eclipsed the 30-point plateau for the first time in 2016 last Saturday night.

The Vols have won 11 consecutive games when scoring 30 points or more dating to 2014. UT was a perfect 6-0 in 2015 when posting more than 30 points.

Under Butch Jones, Tennessee is 16-2 when scoring more than 30 points. Both losses have been three-point defeats at the hands of Georgia.

257,064

Through two games, Tennessee has played in front of a nation-leading 257,064 total fans.

That figure includes the 100,074 on hand at Neyland Stadium for UT’s season-opening win vs. Appalachian State, as well as the record-setting 156,990 fans that packed Bristol Motor Speedway for the Pilot Flying J Battle at Bristol.

The Vols are one of just four FBS programs (Michigan, Virginia Tech, Ohio State) to have played in front of more than 200,000 total fans to this point in the season.

Fumble!

Tennessee forced five fumbles in its win over Virginia Tech in the Battle at Bristol. The Vols recovered all five loose balls.

It was the first time Tennessee had forced an opponent into five turnovers since it did so against Western Kentucky on Sept. 7, 2013.

Sophomore safety Micah Abernathy, who was named SEC Defensive Player of the Week, set a Tennessee single game record with three fumble recoveries against Virginia Tech.

The previous record was two recovered fumbles, achieved most recently by Eric Westmoreland against Wyoming in 1999.

Malone Tops SEC in YDS/REC

Junior WR Josh Malone has been efficient as a deep threat for the Vols this season and leads the SEC at 31.8 yards-per-catch through two games.

Malone has just four catches in that span, but has made the most of those opportunities. He hauled in a 67-yard touchdown reception in the opener against Appalachian State and scored on a 38-yard TD grab against Virginia Tech.

Malone’s 31.8 yards-per-catch average ranks sixth in the nation.

Scouting Ohio

Ohio, located in Athens, is a member of the Mid-American Conference (MAC) and is 1-1 on the season following a triple-overtime loss to Texas State (54-56) and a win on the road at Kansas (37-21).

The Bobcats feature one of the top offenses in the country through two games, averaging 45.4 points and 563.0 yards of total offense per game. Those figures rank 21st and 12th in the FBS, respectively.

Leading the attack is quarterback Greg Windham, who has thrown for 560 yards and five touchdowns with only one interception. Windham is also the team’s second-leading rusher, averaging 91.5 ypg and 7.6 ypc.

In the win over Kansas, Windham passed for 167 yards and a touchdown while also running for 146 yards and another score. For his efforts, Windham was named MAC Eastern Division Offensive Player of the Week.

Windham’s favorite target is wide receiver Papi White, who is averaging 77.0 ypg and 17.1 ypc. White has one touchdown reception.

Ohio’s offensive line has yet to allow a sack this season.

Leading Ohio on the ground is Dorian Brown. He is averaging 93.0 ypg and rushed for 122 yards in last week’s win over Kansas.
