Mission accomplished. Again.

“It’s been exciting for us to see our improvements and we’ve loved breaking records,” said head coach Sara Robson.

“There are many things we still want to improve on and we’ll be working on those daily,” stated Robson.

“Their confidence has been great to see and we’re proud of the team’s determination,” Robson stated. “We’re looking forward to continuing our success.”

APSU Women's Golf - Ashton GoodleyThe Goodley sisters again led the Governors on the final 18 holes. Sophomore Ashton Goodley posted the best final-round score for APSU, shooting a 74 to finish nine-over for the tournament and tied for 16th (75-76-74-225); her sister Taylor Goodley was the Governors overall leader, finishing tied for 12th (74-74-75-223) that equaled her career-best 54-hole set at last week’s Drake Creek Invitational.

“I’m proud of Ashton for her consistency this week,” Robson said. “Taylor also had a great week, but she said, ‘I earned it today.’ She said she had to get up and down from everywhere to score, and she had that fighting attitude the entire week.”

APSU Women's Golf - Morgan KauffmanSenior Morgan Kauffman placed third among Governors and tied for 35th overall, recording a 229 (77-75-77); she’s now recorded nine consecutive rounds in the 70s dating back to last season’s Ohio Valley Conference Championship.

Junior AnnaMichelle Moore rallied back from a tough round two with a final-round 79; she finished tied for 63rd with a 238 (76-83-79), while senior Kelsey Schutt rounded out the Governors lineup with a 244 (81-78-85).

OVC foe Eastern Kentucky won the team title at plus-10, eight strokes ahead of runner-up Toledo. EKU’s Elsa Moberly won individual medalist honors at five-under par 211, three strokes ahead of Western Michigan’s Kaitlyn Watkins.

The Governors will get a well-earned week off next week before returning to action at the Saluki Shoot-Out, October 3rd-4th, in Cape Girardeau, MO.
