Montgomery County was recognized for its partnership with Workforce Essentials to create a Fort Campbell Soldier Transition and Local Retention Program.

Through this program, out processing soldiers needing assistance finding employment in the civilian sector can receive hands on guidance.

This program directly links soldiers to civilian jobs in the region and provides support through a person that has been in the same position as they find themselves. This program is great for two main reasons – it helps our soldiers stay local by finding them meaningful employment outside the army, and it provides our local and regional businesses with qualified, well-trained employees.

This program began last year and has already matched 60 soldiers with local jobs, with an average hourly wage of $18.00, and is currently working with 148 clients seeking employment. As part of the Soldier Transition and Local Retention Program, and to help capture some of the soldier that are medically trained, Montgomery County Emergency Medical Services (MCEMS) began an intern program for 68-W soldiers (medically trained) transitioning out of the military. It’s a win-win for our community and we provide a great service for those who have served our country for us.

The Montgomery County Information Technology was recognized for its creation of an emergency notification phone app, called MCGTnotify, for citizens in our community. This app, accessible for free at the iPhone and Google Play stores, provides our citizens with the daily court docket, contact information for all county departments and the booking log.

It houses the ability for immediate notification of emergencies, such as wrecks resulting in road closures, severe weather emergencies, child endangerment and any similar emergency that the public should be aware of at the time. It is a great way for citizens to have departmental information at their fingertips and to be made aware of emergencies immediately should the need arise.

We congratulate those departments that were selected by the Greater Nashville Regional Council for their efforts and appreciate all they do to make Montgomery County a great place to live.
