Clarksville, TN – The Austin Peay State University Department of Art and Design, with support from the APSU Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts, will host a lecture by internationally recognized artist Janine Antoni at 7:00pm on October 13th in the Trahern Theater.
Antoni’s talk is part of the art and design department’s 2016-17 Visiting Artist Speaker Series.
Clarksville, TN – On Wednesday, October 5th, 2016, at approximately 5:26pm, Clarksville Police Officers responded to a shooting that occurred at 2151 Watertown Place.
Upon arrival, officers discovered a 55-year-old male, deceased on the scene. A male suspect was taken into custody at the scene. Based on the information and leads investigators are following, there does not appear to be any threats to the public.

Clarksville, TN – A big, new Park & Ride lot near Exit 11 off Interstate 24 will open Monday to serve local residents, especially those who use the 94X Clarksville Express regional bus service to commute to and from Nashville, TN.
The new lot replaces the Rossview Road Park & Ride lot in the median of I-24 at Exit 8, which will close at the end of the day on Friday, October 7th.

Clarksville, TN – Currently, Ashland City Road is shut down from the Cumberland Drive intersection to Edmondson Ferry Road due to a fatal three-vehicle crash that was reported to dispatch at 4:08pm on October 5th, 2016.
Vehicle 1, the at-fault vehicle, hit vehicle 2 head-on causing vehicle 2 to collide with vehicle 3. There were four fatalities from this crash– The driver from vehicle 1 and the driver and two passengers from vehicle 2. The driver from vehicle 3 refused medical treatment.
Washington, D.C. – Whitney Joyner of Northeast Middle School is one of only 18 middle and high school educators selected to participate in Understanding Sacrifice, a partnership between National History Day®, the Roy Rosenzweig Center for History and New Media, the American Battle Monuments Commission (ABMC), and the National Cemetery Administration (NCA).
When the program kicks off in November 2016 every educator will select one American who is buried or memorialized at an ABMC or NCA cemetery in San Francisco, Honolulu, or Manila.
Participants will conduct in-depth research on the life of this Fallen Hero using local and national historical resources.

Murfreesboro, TN – The Austin Peay State men’s tennis opened its fall season with a pair of wins over Chattanooga and Middle Tennessee while falling to Alabama-Birmingham at the 2016 Dale Short Shootout presented by Jason’s Deli.
APSU opened the weekend with a 7-0 loss to UAB, but rebounded to close out the weekend’s matches with wins over UTC and host MTSU.
Clarksville, TN – Clarksville Police Department Officers responded to a shots fired call on the 500 block of Donna Drive on Tuesday, September 4th, 2016 at 6:31pm.
The shooting was not random. After an altercation between the victim and the suspect, the suspect, 34-year-old James Shadowens IV from Clarksville, shot the male victim in the leg.
