In his second collegiate 10K, Gray led the Govs by finishing in 93rd position with a time of 32:55.2.

The mark is just a few seconds off his time from last season’s event, and with the added experience, is expected to lead Austin Peay once again next year.

Kiptoo and Smith each participated in their debut 10Ks, and recorded promising results. Kiptoo finished just behind Gray in 102nd (33:04.7), while Smith came in 115th (33:26.6).

The event is Austin Peay’s final meet of the fall after a solid campaign. Next season, the Govs expect to take another step forward with many talented runners returning.

“I thought our men ran well today and we gained a lot of experience,” head coach Doug Molnar said.  “Anytime you get to compete against this caliber of runners, it will make you better. This group will be the backbone of this program moving forward. This men’s team will be very good in the near future, and today was a step on that path to greatness.”

Mississippi won the men’s team event, while Middle Tennessee’s was the top individual.
