APSU Softball - Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s softball team will make it lone trek to the state of Indiana, 2:00pm, Wednesday and to James & Dorothy Cooper Stadium for a non-conference doubleheader versus the University of Evansville.

The Govs (13-19) enter the twinbill having gone 2-2 last week, splitting a pair of doubleheaders versus Memphis and Tennessee Tech, while Evansville (12-19) comes into the matchup having lost its last seven games.

Overall, this series is the most played by the Govs (45 games coming into Wednesday) versus a school that hasn’t been, or currently in, the Ohio Valley Conference since the inception of the APSU softball program.

Austin Peay trails in the all-time series 32-13, dating back to their first meeting on April 10th, 1986, and 13-5 in games played in Evansville, but they have gone 4-4 in their last eight contests versus Evansville.

APSU Softball - Danielle LiermannOffensively after 32 games, the Govs are led by sophomore third baseman Danielle Liermann who enters the matchup batting .350, with eight doubles and eight home runs, while picking a team-high 28 RBI.

Fellow sophomore, catcher Carly Mattson is batting .340, with five doubles and eight home runs – with 18 RBIs and 18 runs scored.

Also having solid starts to the first half of their sophomore campains are centerfielder Kacy Acree and shortstop Kendall Vedder, who enter the Evansville contests batting .294 and .289 respectively this season.

APSU Softball - Rikki ArkansasAcree has four doubles, three triples, and seven home runs in 2017, while driving in 21 and scoring a team-best 25 runs. She along with senior outfielder Rikki Arkansas lead the team with 12 stolen bases.

Vedder has seven doubles, four home runs and 15 RBIs and 15 runs scored this season.

In the circle, freshman Kelsey Gross leads the Govs with a 7-6 win-loss record, with a 5.95 ERA and 62 strikeouts in 77.2 innings of work.

Senior Autumn Hanners (5-7, 3.34 ERA, 41 K’s in 81.2 innings) comes in on a roll having won three of her last four starts – with her loss coming in a 1-0 final to Eastern Kentucky.

APSU Softball - Christiana GableOver her last 27 innings, Hanners has posted a 0.78 ERA, allowing just 0.89 hits per inning and a .240 batting average against the Orlando, FL native.

Senior Christiana Gable (1-5, 4.73 ERA, 21 K’s) has the other APSU win this season and is coming off her longest pitching performance of her career this past Saturday at Tennessee Tech, going nine-plus innings and recording a career-high five strikeouts.
