Murray, KY – Austin Peay State University Women’s Golf sits in the top five thanks to consistent shooting after two rounds at the season’s penultimate tournament, the Jan Weaver Invitational, hosted by Murray State, Friday.
With 18 holes to go on Saturday, the Govs sit in fifth behind a 631 (314-317), three shots ahead of South Alabama and eight clear of Belmont.Host Murray State leads the way, followed by Western Kentucky, Louisiana Monroe and Arkansas State.
Morgan Kauffman began her final regular-season tournament with a solid opening 36 holes at Miller Memorial Golf Course. She shot 74-79 to tie for seventh, rolling in a team-high four birdies.
Sophomore Taylor Goodley sits just outside the top-10 in 13th, shooting 155 (77-78) and hitting 21 pars to lead the Govs. Her 4.25/hole average on par-4s tied her with Kauffman for the team-high.
Taylor’s sister Ashton Goodley shot back-to-back rounds of 80, tying for 28th with 18 holes to play; on a day when the Govs par-3 shooting was shaky, Goodley’s 3.25/hole average led the way.
Junior AnnaMichelle Moore (83-80-163; t-38th) and freshman Meghann Stamps (94-81-175; 58th) completed the lineup for head coach Sara Robson, Senior Amber Bosworth (80-84-164; t-41st) and junior Sarah Beth Struble (81-84-165; t-45th) played as individuals.
The Govs wrap play at Miller Memorial Golf Course with an 8:30am shotgun start, Saturday.
