APSU Women's Track and FieldClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University senior Kaylnn Pitts is really going to miss performing at Fortera Stadium.

The Woonsocket, Rhode Island native capped her senior weekend with a 6.08m (19-11.50) long jump mark, winning the event and most likely qualifying her for the NCAA East Preliminary to cap an impressive weekend for Austin Peay State University track and field at its home event, the APSU Invitational.

Pitts was not alone in her long jump success—in fact, over half of the top-eight were Austin Peay athletes, with senior Chancis Jones (third, 5.86m [19-02.75]) posting another strong day as well.

Senior Christiana Harris (5.38m; 17-08.00), senior Ashleigh Woods (5.12m; 16-09.75) and senior Amia Butler (5.03m; 16-06.00) finished fifth, sixth and eighth, respectively.

In the high jump, sophomore Nia Gibbs-Francis posted a personal-best 1.67m (5-05.75) mark to take the title, with junior Keyondria Ross (1.64m; 5-04.50) and Harris (1.58m; 5-02.25) finished third and fourth.

Success was not limited to the jump pit. Freshmen Garielle Netter and Diamond Battle gave Austin Peay a dynamic one-two punch in the 100m dash, with Netter taking the top spot thanks to a personal-best 11.94 mark that should bump comfortably into a top-five position in the Ohio Valley Conference; Battle was runner-up at 12.09, with Tymeitha Tolbert (12.41) also posting a top-five finish and Jones (sixth, 12.43) and Hanna Wise (seventh, 12.48) giving the Govs five of the top seven finishers.

Senior Myiah Johnson is poised to lower her school-record in the 100m hurdles and came close again this weekend. She won the 100m hurdles with a 13.80 mark, four-hundredths of a second away from her school-record time—a mark she might have eclipsed had she not clipped the final hurdle on Saturday.

In her final appearance at Fortera Stadium, senior Terri Morris took home runner-up honors in the 400m dash with a 56.65 mark, while freshman Jada Allen‘s first appearance on her home turf yielded a fourth-place, season-best 1:06.76 mark in the 400m hurdles.

After an extremely successful home meet, the Govs will return to action with a limited group next week at Georgia Tech. The two-day event begins Friday in Atlanta, GA.
