Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s softball team announces it has added a third signee to its Spring 2017 National Letter of Intent acquisition period with the addition of San Diego, CA, area outfielder/pitcher Lauren Meitzler.

The 5-6 Meitzler, from Ramona, CA, is a four-year letter winner for the Ramona High School Bulldogs (18-3) – who are currently riding a 10-game win streak, ranked 1st in their county, 14th in the state of California – and are the three-time defending Valley League Conference champions.
Meitzler is currently batting .404 this season for the Bulldogs, with a .557 slugging percentage and a .426 on-base average. She also has driven in 14 runs and scored 11 times, while recording three doubles, a triple and a home run.
As a pitcher, she has been limited to just four appearances this spring in the circle and owns a 1-0 record with three strikeouts.
Scholastically, Meitzler carries a 3.5+ GPA and won the San Diego Union Tribune Athletic Award in 2014 and 2016, as well as the Bulldog Academic Excellence Award for the Fall on 2016.
Since 2015, Meitzler has played summer ball with the OC Batbusters, hitting over .400, leading the team’s pitching staff in strikeouts and recording a no-hitter at the Premier Girls Fastpitch Showcase.
