Nashville Sounds blank Omaha Storm Chasers 4-0

Nashville Sounds

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The cool weather cooled off the Sounds bats but they found other ways to score on a soggy night at First Tennessee Park. Patience at the plate, savvy base running, and dominant pitching were part of the Sounds’ recipe for success in their 4-0 shutout of the Omaha Storm Chasers.

The shutout for the Sounds was their second straight and third in the past six games. Nashville is 4-2 in shutout games this season.

Paul Blackburn became the fourth straight Sounds starter to record a scoreless outing, extending the rotation’s stretch to 29.0 consecutive scoreless frames. Blackburn lasted a season-high seven innings and allowed just five hits while striking out six batters. He threw 98 pitches for the second straight start to match his career-high.

Dodging the Roadkill: Riding the Devil’s Triangle

Dodging the Roadkill - A Biker's JourneyCumberland Plateau, TN – On a beautiful Saturday in May, up on the Cumberland Plateau just north of Oak Ridge, Tennessee, I joined a group of fellow bikers to ride the notorious Devil’s Triangle.

This is NOT for the faint of heart.

I’ve only been riding since January of 2016, and since I took to my “journey” I’ve logged over 41,000 miles.  In the beginning my skills were sketchy, but with miles, comes confidence, and improved skills.

During the summer of 2016, I joined my dear Texas friends for a week long trip that included riding the “Tail of the Dragon.”  The reputation of the “Tail” had me a little apprehensive.  “Was I prepared to ride it?” I would ask myself.
