Nashville, TN – The Iowa Cubs sent 12 to the plate in a six-run seventh inning en route to an 8-4 win over the Nashville Sounds in front of 8,771 fans at First Tennessee Park Tuesday night.
The Sounds (32-30) built an early 4-0 lead behind another strong start by Chris Smith only to see it erased when the bullpen faltered.

Clarksville, TN – It is with heavy hearts that the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office mourns the passing of Jail Chaplain Emmett Sexton. Sexton, 68, passed away surrounded by family on Monday, June 12th, 2017.
Sexton started his career at the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office as a chaplain’s assistant in 2002. In 2008 he was promoted to chaplain. Prior to serving at the Sheriff’s Office he served as a pastor for many years at Bible Baptist Church.
Clarksville, TN – The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) in conjunction with the Clarksville Police Department and the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF), the trade association for the firearms industry, are offering a reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction for those responsible for the theft of firearms from The Tactical Edge, a federal firearm licensee (FFL).
On June 9th, 2017, The Tactical Edge, 1925 Fort Campbell Boulevard, Clarksville, was burglarized and approximately 45 firearms were reported stolen to the Clarksville Police Department. ATF industry operations investigators are in the process of conducting an inventory to determine the exact number of firearms stolen.
Hyundai recalls over 400,000 Santa Fe and Santa Fe Sport vehicles because Secondary Hood Latch may Bind and not Latch
Washington, D.C. – The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain 2013-2017 Santa Fe and Santa Fe Sport vehicles. In the affected vehicles, the secondary hood latch actuating cable may corrode and bind, causing the secondary hood latch to remain in the unlatched position when the hood is closed.
If the hood is not securely closed or the primary latch is inadvertently released and the secondary latch is not engaged, the hood could unexpectedly open while driving, increasing the risk of a vehicle crash.

Lynchburg, VA – For the second time in five days, Austin Peay State University freshman catcher Parker Phillips has earned national recognition, with the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association naming him a Second-Team Freshman All-American, Monday.
Phillips becomes is just the third Austin Peay freshman to earn recognition from the NCBWA, joining catcher Matt Wollenzin (2011) and utility man Alex Robles (2014).
CGW Workers complete repair of water main
Clarksville, TN – Clarksville Gas and Water has lifted the temporary mandatory water restrictions put in place for a portion of North Clarksville on Monday.
All customers may return to normal water usage, Gas & Water officials announced Tuesday.

Nangarhar Province, Afghanistan – The U.S. Department of Defense reports three Fort Campbell soldiers were killed in Afghanistan while supporting Operation Freedom’s Sentinel.
The Three U.S. soldiers were killed in eastern Afghanistan on Saturday, June 10th, 2017.
They died in Peka Valley, Nangarhar Province, Afghanistan, of gunshot wounds sustained in Peka Valley, Nangarhar Province, Afghanistan. The incident is under investigation.

Clarksville, TN – Clarksville Gas and Water has closed 400 feet of the outer eastbound lane of Madison Street from Crossland Avenue to 1604 Madison Street for continued sewer main installation work.
Madison Street will be passable and motorists will be directed to the inside lane during the work.
