Montgomery County After Total Solar Eclipse Traffic and Safety Update

 

Montgomery County Government TennesseeMontgomery County, TN – The 2017 Total Solar Eclipse has ended in Clarksville and Montgomery County but the memories of the phenomenon will last a lifetime. The weather was perfect, with no cloud coverage to diminish the magnificence of the sun’s corona. In addition, traffic ran smoothly with minimal incidents during the day.

The Montgomery County Emergency Management Agency worked diligently with agencies such as the American Red Cross, Emergency Medical Services, Clarksville Police Department, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office and Tennessee Highway Patrol for nearly a year to prepare for the possible influx of people and accidents in the community.

Clarksville Police say Mishandling of a Firearm Coupled with a Suicide Leave Two Young Adults Dead

 

Clarksville Police Department - CPDClarksville, TN – An unfortunate sequence of events and mishandling of a firearm coupled with a suicide resulted in the death of two young adults on Saturday, August 19th, 2017 according to the Clarksville Police Department.

The investigation into the death of two young adults uncovered the following information. The two were at a Shorehaven residence when one of the young adults was manipulating a loaded firearm, which he accidentally discharged and killed his friend.

Nashville Sounds slay Iowa Cubs 7-0

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds cracked a pair of home runs and got a bright pitching performance from Ben Bracewell in a 7-0 win over the Iowa Cubs in front of 8,119 fans at First Tennessee Park Monday afternoon.

Joey Wendle started the scoring early when he launched a three-run homer into The Band Box in the bottom of the first inning. It was Wendle’s eighth home run of the season and snapped a Sounds skid of 0-for-14 with runners in scoring position.

Nashville added a run in the second when Melvin Mercedes singled up the middle and Jaff Decker perfectly placed a double down the left field line to bring in Mercedes and make it 4-0.

AAA says Tennessee Gas Prices Face Upward Pressure

 

Clarksville-Montgomery County has Second Cheapest Gas Prices in Tennessee

AAANashville, TN – Motorists did not have to wait until fall to see gas prices move lower. Instead of following a more traditional upward trend through the second half of August, prices at the pump are retreating.

“Robust fuel supplies pushed retail prices lower last week, but this downward trend may not last much longer” said Mark Jenkins, spokesman, AAA – The Auto Club Group.

Tennessee TitansNashville, TN – The Tennessee Titans today announced the 2017 launch of the Titans High School Game of the Week presented by Academy Sports + Outdoors.

Beginning this week, Week 2 of the High School football season, four matchups will be chosen to compete to become the High School Game of the Week. A panel of media members select the top matchups from east, middle, and west Tennessee, and one wild card. Voting is held on Titans Online (www.titansonline.com/gameoftheweek) Monday through Wednesday of each week to decide which game is the High School Game of the Week.

Clarksville Police reports Two Juvenile Runaways found

 

Clarksville Police Department - CPDClarksville, TN – Clarksville Police were looking for two juvenile brothers Jason Watson and James Watson. The were reported missing on August 6th, 2017.

The juveniles have been found and safe. They were located during an early morning traffic stop in Clarksville on August 20th, 2017 around 7:00am.

Jason Watson is in the front and James Watson is standing in the back. Both have been located.

As I was researching motorcycles, styles, brands, etc., what I was most intrigued by was the culture.  The “biker” culture.  The brotherhood.  The bond.

After a career spent in a very superficial, selfish and self serving environment (broadcasting), it was exciting to forge new friendships. Friendships that were genuine.  Friendships that weren’t based on what I could do for someone.

But as the Governors enter their final full week of their preseason practices before their season opener on August 31st, 2017 at Cincinnati they’ve shown in their inter-squad scrimmages that they are starting to put things together with a promise of a brighter future down the road.

NASA says International Space Station Crew ready for Total Solar Eclipse

NASA - National Aeronautics and Space AdministrationHouston, TX – The Expedition 52 crew wrapped up a busy week on Friday with more science work, cargo unloading and cleanup after a Russian spacewalk on Thursday. They are also busy preparing for the 2017 Total Solar Eclipse on Monday with the chance at several unique views of the event.

The crew participated in several studies including Vascular Echo Ultrasound, a Canadian Space Agency investigation that examines changes in blood vessels and the heart while the crew members are in space.

The station crew will have three chances to see the total solar eclipse from space. The third pass will offer the most coverage with the sun 84% obscured by the moon. (NASA)
