APSU Women's VolleyballOxford, MS – Senior Ashley Slay finished with 10 kills and seven blocks, but Austin Peay State University’s volleyball team saw an 11-block effort go for naught in a three-set loss (22-25, 15-25, 22-25) to Mississippi, Thursday night at Gillom Sports Center.

Montgomery County Sheriff's Office - MCSOClarksville, TN – The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office would like to congratulate Investigator Fred Smith and Investigator William Maynard on a recent recognition they received.

Montgomery County Sheriff John Fuson presented Smith and Maynard with a Certificate of Recognition for their actions during a training seminar in Huntsville, Alabama.

While eating breakfast the pair noticed a fellow diner choking on some food.

Play will continue in the seven-team competition all the way through Saturday evening.

Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office reports Excell Baptist Church Trailer recovered

 

Montgomery County Sheriff's Office - MCSOClarksville, TN – Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office says the trailer stolen from Excell Baptist Church between September 3rd and 4th has been located and recovered. The thief is still at large and the contents are still missing.

The trailer and its contents are used for small and large disaster relief work by the church.

Anyone with information concerning this crime is asked to call Investigator Mark Langford at 931.648.0611 ext 13422.

APSU Football travels back to Ohio to face Miami Redhawks

APSU FootballClarksville, TN – For the second consecutive week, the Austin Peay football program will travel to the Buckeye State to take on an FBS opponent. This time the Governors will square off with Miami University, out of the Mid-American Conference, in the first-ever meeting between the two programs.

Kickoff is slated for Saturday 2:30pm at Yager Stadium in Oxford, Ohio and will be available on ESPN3.

Clarksville Police Urge Caution When Meeting Strangers to Sell or Buy Goods

 

Clarksville Police Department - CPDClarksville, TN – There have been several incidents of people getting ripped off when they met strangers after utilizing the LetGo app to advertise the sale of their cell phones.

On September 7th, 2017, there were two more victims added to the list of people who had their cell phones taken after meeting with strangers who were supposedly going to buy the phones for sale.

TWRA Reports Four Boating-Related Fatalities over Labor Day Weekend

 

Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency - TWRANashville, TN – The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency reports there were four boating-related fatalities over the 2017 Labor Day holiday period from September 1st-4th.

The fatal incidents occurred on Cherokee Lake, Chickamauga Reservoir, and Kentucky Lake. TWRA is continuing investigation of the incidents.

TWRA boating officers made four boating under the influence (BUI) arrests.

There were four boating-related fatalities over the 2017 Labor Day holiday.

Tennessee TitansNashville, TN – The Tennessee Titans (0-0) open the 2017 regular season at home this week against the Oakland Raiders (0-0). Kickoff at Nissan Stadium (capacity 69,143) is scheduled for noon CDT on Sunday, September 10th, 2017.

This is the 50th all-time meeting between the former American Football League rivals, including regular season and playoff games. In 2016, the Raiders beat the Titans at Nissan Stadium by a final score of 17-10 (September 25th). Nine of the previous 49 battles have taken place in Week 1, with the Titans owning a 6-3 advantage.

Longest-Held Enlisted POW Bill Robinson to Speak at Clarksville Event on September 15th

 

Visit Clarksville TennesseeClarksville, TN – On September 20th, 1965, Airman 1st Class Bill Robinson began a typical mission day as part of the team trying to rescue a downed pilot in North Vietnam. Enemy ground fire downed their helicopter and the crew and pilot were captured.

The Vietnamese would not release Robinson for seven years and five months, making him the longest-held enlisted man in US military history.
