APSU Women’s Golf heads to Batavia Ohio for NKU Fall Classic

APSU Women's GolfClarksville, TN – With Hurricane Irma forcing the cancellation of the GolfWeek Invitational in South Carolina, Austin Peay State University women’s golf called an audible and headed for Batavia, Ohio for the NKU Fall Classic.

Hosted by Northern Kentucky at Elk Runs Golf Club, the 54-hole tournament begins 8:00am, Monday with a shotgun start and 36 holes.

APSU Men's GolfClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University men’s golf will get the 2017-18 season underway down the road in Murray, Kentucky at the 14th MSU Fall Invitational, hosted by Murray State at Miller Memorial Golf Course.

The Govs moved to Murray State’s tournament after Hurricane Irma forced the cancellation of the Golfweek Invitational.

LBL to hold 44th Annual Piney Campers’ Fair

 

Land Between the Lakes - LBLLand Between the Lakes, KY/TN – Piney Campground will celebrate camping in the great outdoors with its 44th Annual Campers’ Fair, September 20th-24th, 2017. Campers’ Fair will offer the newest in RVs, camping equipment, golf carts and boats.

The event is free and open to everyone on Saturday, September 23rd from 8:00am-4:00pm, and on Sunday, September 24th from 10:00am-2:00pm, at Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area.

Customs House Museum to host Gallery Talk with Award-Winning Artists on September 16th

 

Clarksville's Customs House Museum and Cultural CenterClarksville, TN – The Customs House Museum will host a gallery talk for its current exhibition Women Painting Women: In Earnest on Saturday, September 16th, 2017.

The exhibit grew from an online blog in 2009, highlighting women artists working in the figurative tradition. Guest speakers at the museum event include co-founder Alia El-Bermani. Her paintings and drawings have been showcased in museums throughout the world.

APSU Women's TennisClarksville, TN – Junior standout Claudia Yanes Garcia of the Austin Peay State University women’s tennis team tallied a victory in the individual finals over twin sister Lidia Yanes Garcia 7-6 (5), 5-7, 10-7 to capture the 2017 APSU Fall Invitational crown on Saturday afternoon at the Austin Peay Tennis Courts.

NASA observes Hurricane Irma moving along Cuba’s Coast

NASA - National Aeronautics and Space AdministrationGreenbelt, MD – Hurricane Irma was moving up Cuba’s northern coast when NASA’s Aqua satellite passed overhead.

A satellite instrument revealed coldest temperatures of powerful thunderstorm tops surrounding Irma’s eye and in a band of thunderstorms over the Florida Keys.

Infrared MODIS data showed two areas with very cold cloud top temperatures of strong thunderstorms.
