Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsClarksville, TN – Freshman forward Terry Taylor, of the Austin Peay State University men’s basketball team, has been named the Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week.

Taylor poured in a career-high 30 points—his first career 30-point outing and the first by an Austin Peay freshman since 1999 (Nick Stapleton, Middle Tennessee) against Evansville, Saturday. He hit 12-of-17 from the floor, collecting six rebounds and blocking a career-best three shots as the Govs took the Purple Aces into overtime.

APSU Men's Basketball - Terry Taylor

For his efforts against the Purple Aces, Taylor garnered his third adidas® Ohio Valley Conference Freshman of the Week honor and may be well on his way to a fourth after Tuesday’s contest against Troy.

Taylor helped the Govs mount a big second-half comeback, scoring 20 of his team-high 27 points in the second half.

Over his last three contests, the Bowling Green native is averaging 23.3 points and 6.7 rebounds, hitting 61.7 percent (29-of-47) from the floor.

The Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week is selected by the APSU Sports Information staff each Wednesday during the academic year. Copies in a Flash, of Clarksville, sponsors the award.

Other notable performances by Austin Peay athletes included:

  • Senior forward Averyl Ugba, of the men’s basketball team, averaged 12.5 ppg and 7.0 rpg against Evansville and Troy, including a 16-point night against the Trojans.
