APSU Women's BasketballClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University women’s basketball team continues its road swing 2:00pm, Saturday, January 13th, 2018 against Jacksonville State.

The Govs look to bounce back after a tough loss to Tennessee Tech, Thursday night, where Austin Peay outscored the Golden Eagles 45-37 in the second half, but were unable to overcome a first half deficit in Cookeville, Tennessee.

The Governors second-half boost came from the bench, as junior transfer Michaela Campbell posted a career high 19 points, scoring in double digits for the third-straight game. Campbell scored 19 of Austin Peay’s 29 bench points in her 27 minutes on the floor.

Veterans Keisha Gregory, Brianne Alexander and Falon Baker led the team in rebounding against the Golden Eagles, each pulling down five rebounds, with Alexander boasting 14 points, shooting 100.0 percent from the foul line.

The Governors are shooting 40.8 percent from the floor, and averaging 6.9 three-point shots per game. Austin Peay has converted their opportunities from the stripe, shooting 74.7 percent from the line, while averaging 12.6 free throws per contest.

The Govs are facing a Gamecock squad that has opened play 4-1, including a dominant win over Murray State, Thursday. Jacksonville State is nearly perfect at home this season, going 6-1, and are an undefeated 2-0 at home in conference play.

Conference Contests
Austin Peay has split the two meetings with Jacksonville State in the last two seasons, with Austin Peay winning the meeting at home January 7th, 2016 by two points and dropping the meeting last year on the road, January 7th, 2017.

Rebounding Trio
Gregory leads the team in rebounds, averaging 5.7 per game, with Alexander averaging 5.3, and leading the team in offensive rebounds under the basket. Alexander, Gregory and Baker each had five rebounds against Tennessee Tech.

Bench Benefits
Michaela Campbell has scored in double digits for three-straight games coming off the bench for head coach David Midlick. Campbell scored a career high 19 points against the Golden Eagles.
