APSU’s Amanda Walker appointed to Tennessee Regional Planning Commission

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – Amanda Walker, director of career services at Austin Peay State University, was recently appointed to the State of Tennessee Regional Planning Commission for the Clarksville-Montgomery County Region.

Walker was nominated by Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan and was confirmed by the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development Office.

Walker will serve a four-year term on the commission with the primary purpose of providing oversight and guidance in the regional development of the Clarksville-Montgomery County area.

The basic function and duty of the planning commission is to make and adopt a general regional plan for the physical development of the territory of the region. The plan is for the general purpose of guiding and accomplishing a coordinated, adjusted, efficient and economic development of the region.

Walker also is director of membership for the Tennessee Association of Colleges and Employers, vice president on the Board of Directors for the Nashville Area Career Fair Consortium, higher educational consultant for the Southern Association of Colleges and Employers and the National Association of Colleges and Employers, and an alumnae member of Sigma Kappa Sorority.

Walker received her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Master of Arts in Higher Education from The University of Mississippi and a Doctor of Education from Delta State University. Her dissertation focused on employer perspectives on the value of experiential education.
