As part of their service work, the group worked with park rangers on various projects, such as campsite maintenance, replacing light fixtures in cabins and renovating an event room.

“I left this trip with a few more skills than I had come there with,” Olivia Calvert, APSU student, said. “For example, I learned how to properly change a light fixture completely. I learned how to be patient and gained some appreciation for nature reserve. I left with gratification that we were able to assist a state park.”

The APSU Center of Service-Learning & Community Engagement coordinates several service trips a year.
