APSU Women’s Basketball looks to get back on track at Southeast Missouri

APSU Women's BasketballClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University women’s basketball team continues their four-game road swing 2:00pm, Saturday, February 3rd against Southeast Missouri.  

The Govs are coming off a tough game at UT Martin, where the offense struggled to find production against the Skyhawk pressure.

The Governors found their rhythm in the final quarter, shooting 81.8 percent from the floor and scoring 23 points, but the run came too late, as Austin Peay fell to UT Martin Thursday night.

Brianne Alexander led the way for the Govs against UT Martin, scoring 11 points and pulling down five rebounds. Alexander is averaging 12.5 points per game and shooting 44.9 percent from the floor in conference play, while Falon Baker is averaging 10.7 points per game on 37.6 percent shooting. Keisha Gregory leads the Governors in rebounds, pulling down 6.1 boards per game.

The Govs are averaging 64.5 points per contest while shooting 40.0 percent from the floor. The team continue their strong performance from the free-throw line shooting 72.2 percent, averaging 12.9 free throws per game.

The Govs are facing a Redhawks squad that is coming off a 10-point win over Murray State, Thursday. Austin Peay’s defense will contend with Southeast Missouri’s balanced offense that has four players averaging in double figures.

Series Structure
Austin Peay is 32-26 all time against Southeast Missouri and are currently protecting a four-game winning streak against the Redhawks. Austin Peay previously won a nail biter against SEMO January 6th, 66-65 in Clarksville.

Double Digits
Two Governors are currently averaging double digits in conference play: Alexander (12.5) and Baker (10.7).     

Free-Throws
Alexander has gone 57-for-67 from the stripe in conference play, shooting 85.1 percent, only missing two free-throw attempts in the last five games.
