Clarksville, TN – The Nashville Predators dropped another overtime thriller, but managed to pick up a point tonight, falling to the Ottawa Senators 4-3. P.K Subban scored twice, including the game tying goal with 4:18 remaining in regulation, to force the overtime.
For the second night in a row, Nashville found itself coming from behind to earn the point. They’ve now earned four out of six possible points on this road trip. Filip Forsberg is expected to rejoin the team on Saturday after serving a three game suspension.
P.K Subban opened the scoring just 34 seconds into the game when his shot deflected off Ottawa’s Cody Ceci and Nashville took the early lead, 1-0.
Ottawa tied the game at the 8::00 mark when Chris DiDomenico scored on a “one timer” off a pass from Ryan Dzingel and the game was tied at 1-1.
The Predators took a 2-1 lead at 18:05 as Calle Jarnkrok scored after taking the Nick Bonino pass for goal.
Ottawa scored early into the second period when Max McCormick tied the contest at 2-2. The goal game at the 4:08 mark of the period and was the first goal of the season for McCormick.
The Senators took the lead at the twelve minute mark of the second period when Magnus Paajarvi netted a wraparound goal for the 3-2 Ottawa lead. Erik Karlsson was credited with the assist.
With time winding down in regulation, P.K Subban scored his second goal of the night with 4:18 remaining in the game to give the Predators a 3-3 tie.
In the three-on-three overtime period, Mike Hoffman gave the Senators the extra point, scoring at 3:01 sneaking the winner between the legs of Predators goalie, Juuse Saros.
Tonight’s game marked the return of former Senator, and current Predator, Kyle Turris who was treated to a standing ovation from the Ottawa fans and a video tribute. This was the first game back in Ottawa since he was traded to Nashville last November.
Nashville will complete this four game road trip Saturday night, February 10th in Montreal.
