APSU SoftballClarksville, TN – After a three-year hiatus, Austin Peay State University’s softball team will renew its longtime series versus Alabama A&M with a 1:00pm, Tuesday, February 13th road doubleheader at Bulldog Field with the Governors looking to build off its season-opening weekend.

The game, originally scheduled for Wednesday, was shifted ahead one day because of the threat of rain Wednesday in the north Alabama area.

Tuesday’s doubleheader will be the 21st and 22nd games in the all-time series between the Govs and Bulldogs, dating back to the 2001 season, with APSU holding a 19-1 advantage in the series, including winning the last 13 meeting between the two programs.

Offensively, Natalie Schilling, Kacy Acree and Danielle Liermann sparked the Govs at the plate during the Georgia Southern Eagle Round Robin this past weekend, with Acree (two doubles) and Liermann (double and home run) collecting four hits in nine at bats each, with Schilling going 3-for-6. Emily Harkleroad, Carly Mattson, Morgan Rackel and Brooke Pfefferle also recorded extra-base hits over the opening weekend’s play.

In the circle, Rackel struck out 12 in nine innings of work (1.3 K’s per inning), including a complete game in her start versus Georgia Southern, while Kelsey Gross recorded two starts and Kelly Mardones and Hannah Thompson each saw action out of the bullpen.

Tuesday’s doubleheader will be the home opener for Alabama A&M.
