Clarksville, TN – The Customs House Museum and Cultural Center is located in historic downtown Clarksville, Tennessee. Come explore an entire city block featuring large gallery spaces filled with fine art, science and history.

Julia Martin: HYPNAGOGIC
March 1st – April 1st | Planters Bank Peg Harvill Gallery
Nashville artist and gallery owner Julia Martin paints the surreal moments just before sleep, when lucid dreaming and hallucinations often occur. This series presents impressionistic figurative paintings in a world where the real and the imagined appear one and the same. This exhibition is sponsored in part by Nashville Arts Magazine.

An exhibition of regional stories featuring photographs and artifacts from our collection, including: the jail, Trinity Episcopal Church, the Court House, the Capitol Theater, and more.
Celebrating Women in Business
March 6th – April 29th | The Leaf Chronicle Lobby
In celebration of Women’s History Month, this exhibition uses objects and images from the Museum’s permanent collection to celebrate local businesses throughout Clarksville’s history that have been owned or founded by women. Learn about the Barbara Louise Hospital, First Woman’s Bank, local beauty shops, and more.
Kathleen Conover: Industrial Evolution
March 2nd – May 2nd | Crouch Gallery
“The most significant ‘signature’ element in my work is deep symbolism.” Kathleen Conover received a Master of Arts in Fine Art from Northern Michigan University in Marquette, Michigan. She did her graduate work in printmaking at Gonzaga University, Spokane, Washington.
She holds signature status in many organizations, including the American Water Color Society, and has exhibited her paintings internationally in countries such as France, Turkey, and China.

Narrative Illusions: The Visions of Mindy Herrin

Mindy Herrin’s narrative sculpture is created with a combination of metal and alternative materials. Organic by nature, her forms use materials for their tactile properties, creating pieces that move, have the appearance of flesh, and hint to the adventures of being female in everyday life.
The Art of Mixed Media Inspired Artists

Mixed Media Inspired Artists (MMIA) is an artists collective founded by Sandra Washburn. Specializing in acrylic/mixed media, this exhibit showcases artwork from their members.

The Customs House Museum & Cultural Center is open with free admission from 10:00am to 5:00pm as part of our Second Saturday Free Admission Day! Please join us in the Family Art Studio as we use a variety of materials, such as construction paper, yarn, and fabric, to construct creative art pieces similar to those found in the exhibition “The Art of Mixed Media Inspired Artists”.
Museum guests of all ages will have fun creating their own works of art and comparing them to the ones in the current exhibition, located in the Kimbrough Gallery next to the Family Art Studio.

Former U.S. Congressman Bob Clement Presentation & Book Signing
Sunday, March 25th, 2:00pm – 4:00pm | Free Admission to Event
Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan will host a special book signing event featuring former U.S. Congressman Bob Clement (D-TN). Clement will give a presentation on the current political climate in the country, and read a few passages from his memoir, “Presidents, Kings and Convicts: My Journey from the Tennessee Governor’s Residence to the Halls of Congress.” Following the program, Clement will be on-hand to sign copies of the book, which will be available for purchase at Seasons: The Museum Store.
Train Sale at Seasons: The Museum Store
During the month of March, Seasons: The Museum Store is offering 10% off all train-related merchandise! This includes toys, train conductor outfits, and more. Museum Members can use their discount for a total of 20% off when they show their membership card.

About the Customs House Museum
Located in the heart of historic downtown Clarksville, Tennessee, the Customs House Museum and Cultural Center is the State’s second largest general museum. The original portion of the building was constructed in 1898 as a U.S. Post Office and Customs House for the flourishing tobacco trade. Incorporating a number of architectural styles, the original structure is one of the most photographed buildings in the region.
With over 35,000 square feet of the region’s best hands-on activities and special events…people of all ages agree – the Customs House Museum is well worth the stop!
The Explorer’s Gallery is packed with fun, learning and fantasy in Aunt Alice’s Attic, McGregor’s Market and kitchen, and of course – the Bubble Cave! Finally, get “all aboard” to see our fantastic model trains. Our volunteer engineers “ride the rails” every Sunday afternoon from 1:00pm to 4:00pm.
Regular museum hours are 10:00am to 5:00pm Tuesday through Saturday, and 1:00pm to 5:00pm on Sundays. Adult admission is $7.00, Senior Citizens and College ID $5.00, Ages 6 to 18 $3.00, and under six years and Museum members are free.
