APSU Women's TennisClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University women’s tennis team goes on the road this weekend to play Kennesaw State, 2:00pm, Sunday.

In addition, Lidia Yanes Garcia won the adidas® Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Week award after wins at No. 1 singles and doubles against IUPUI, as well as picking up Austin Peay’s lone point against Louisville, winning at No. 1 singles once again. Yanes Garcia is 6-0 in No. 1 singles matches this season.

The Owls (1-8) are currently on a four-game skid, including a loss to fellow OVC-member Jacksonville State. However, Kennesaw State senior Alexandra Mercado won the Atlantic-Sun Player of the Week this past week, winning two matches each at No. 1 singles and doubles and looks to be Yanes Garcia’s opponent Sunday. The last time the Govs faced off with the Owls was in the spring of 2015, with Kennesaw State winning the match. Senior Brittney Covington is the lone member who remains from that match for the Govs and is the only player to have played a Kennesaw State opponent in either a dual match or tournament play.
