A who’s-who of schools from across the nation, including St. John’s (ranked eighth in the latest United States Track and Field and Cross Country Association Northeast Regional poll), Boston University (12th in the Northeast), Southern Miss (13th in the South), FIU (19th in the South), Tennessee Tech (20th in the South), Rider (23rd in the Mid-Atlantic), North Florida (24th in the South), Western Kentucky (24th in the Southeast), Lipscomb (25th in the South) and host Georgia Tech (11th in the South) join the Govs, ranked 22nd in the South, for this meet.

The crown jewel of this event is a massive 87-runner 200m dash event, in which eight Govs—Diamond Battle, Allana Johnson, Maya Perry-Grimes, Sabrina Richman, Allysha Scott, Amelia Thiesing, Tymeitha Tolbert and Lennex Walker—are scheduled to compete.

Tolbert, who recently took over the Ohio Valley Conference lead in the 100m dash, will be in the fastest heat in that event as well and is currently slated to be in the lone collegiate competitor against seven post-grads or professionals, and also will team with Battle, Perry-Grimes and Walker in the 4x100m relay.

In the 400m, Richman will take off in Heat Two, alongside regional top-100 competitors Hallie Grimes (North Florida) and Leah Anderson (St. John’s). Walker, also running the 100m hurdles, will face similarly stiff competition from top-100 foes Tehya Noell (Boston University), Ally Saccone (Boston University), Sara Gardner (Rider) and Marinice Bauman (Georgia Tech) in Heat Two of her event.

For the first time since the outdoor opener at Myrtle Beach, Perry-Grimes is scheduled to give it a go at both the long and triple jumps; she remains 40th in the East region in the triple jump via TFRRS.org thanks to her 12.42m (40-9.00) mark at the Coastal Carolina Invitational.

The pole vault, an event dominated by junior Savannah Amato and her teammates Dascha Hix and Morgan Bradley in recent weeks, will feature eight of the region’s top-60 pole vaulters. Amato’s school-record 4.17m (13-8.25) two weeks ago at Western Kentucky leads the field, but she can expect stiff competition from Georgia Tech’s Ksenia Novikova (17th, 4.10m) on her home surface, as well as North Florida’s Louisa Washburn (39th, 3.95m) among others.

Live scoring, while not available at press time, should be available once the meet commences at http://www.results.deltatiming.com. A complete recap of the action will be available after the meet at LetsGoPeay.com as well.
