Dodging the Roadkill: 4th Annual Steel Horse Rally

Dodging the Roadkill - A Biker's JourneyClarksville, TN – The 4th Annual Steel Horse Rally will roar into downtown Fort Smith, Arkansas on May 4th and 5th, 2018.

Dubbed “America’s Favorite New Motorcycle Rally,” this charity event is dedicated to “All Who Serve:” military, veterans, law enforcement and first responders.

I can’t wait to get there.

Last year, the Steel Horse Rally drew more than 75,000 people and impacted the local economy to the tune of 13 million dollars.

This family friendly, biker friendly, community event will feature more vendors, more activities and for the first time, professional and amateur racing.

I search far and wide for festivals that will take me to places where communities rally together to sponsor a  world class event.  Last year I went to Mountain View Arkansas for a delightful event that drew bikers from all over the country.  The roads I got to ride were amazing.

I understand that this event will be no different.

There will be a Poker Run on Friday that takes bikers through western Arkansas and eastern Oklahoma.  Park your bike in the middle of Garrison Avenue and enjoy the vendors and the music when you return.

The Steel Horse Rally Shootout which features pro and amateur dirt track racing on Friday night, will be featured at the TriState Speedway with a $500.00 guaranteed purse to winners of the top three pro classes.

Saturday the Birds of Prey show begins at 9:00am next to the General Darby Statue in Cisterna Park.  Park your bike in the middle of Garrison Avenue and enjoy the vendor village.

I’m looking forward to the Lawbreakers & Peacemakers, Motorcycle memories Exhibit and Bike show at the Fort Smith Museum of History.

I also can’t wait to ride the Thunder Loop which features some of the most beautiful roads in western Arkansas, during the Local law Enforcement Fun Run on Saturday.

Saturday afternoon, the Thunder Through the Valley Motorcycle Parade, led by the Fort Smith Police Department Motorcycle Officers, will wind its way to downtown, passing the giant American flag displayed by the Ft. Smith Fire Department.

I’ve been in contact with the organizers of this event and I can’t wait to ride the area and enjoy the beautiful Arkansas countryside.
