Clarksville Police Department
Clarksville, TN – The Clarksville Police Department is going to make the public aware of some of the scams that they receive daily. CPD knows there are an unlimited amounts of scams, but they are going to try and put out the ones where people have actually suffered a loss.
Old scam, different version. Online employment. A woman replied to an ad for a medical receptionist on “indeed.com”. She received a response from a “Doctor” There was supposed to be a job opening in a new practice.
But, the doctor had broken his phone and said contact would have to be through another number.
She was sent five checks, told to deposit them in her personal account and then send specific amounts of money to designated individuals.
She sent money grams as directed. But, the checks bounced and she lost close to $3,000.
Additionally, she had to take out a loan to cover her bills.
